Rheinischer Hof

Stayed here for two nights whilst attending Pokémon Go fest in Dortmund. The hotel itself has a wonderful character. The room had everything we needed and the beds were very comfy. The rooms we had were equipped with en-suites. Breakfast was great - cold meats, cheeses, fruits, yoghurts, eggs, cereal and a few other yummy things. Herdecke itself is a wonderful town. The square has some fantastic restaurants and bars situated in wonderful historic buildings that are very eye catching. A short stroll down to the river gives a peaceful walk with some fabulous scenery. The people were incredibly friendly. The local Lidl and Aldi as well as the small green grocers and other shops give everything you need on foot! A 5 minute walk and you can be at the train station where for €6 you can be in the centre of Dortmund in less than 20 minutes. Dortmund then connects you to the rest of Germany. The trains are regular - every hour at 3 minutes past and we’re brilliantly efficient. We had a thoroughly enjoyable time staying in Herdecke and the Hotel Rheinischer Hof was perfect! Thank you to the owner who was so friendly and made things very easy and enjoyable!
