This hotel is actually unlucky first of all for the fact that it is in one of most dreadful towns I ever visited in Germany during my 20+ visits to this beautiful country.

The location is conveniently located at a walking distance from the Market Square, which by the way is the only spot in this nightmarish city to deserve to be seen. Handel's birth house can be found nearby.

The hotel offers a little rather suffocating pub-restaurant where you are stared by other guests since you come close (not even in). This is also the reception.

My room was nicely furnished and very clean, with tea making facilities and a bathroom with a shower and hairdryer. The WiFi worked well in my room. To get to my room I needed to walk up a staircase to the first floor where the smell of cigarette and some other unidentified chemical was really bad. Finally, in order to reach my room I needed to walk on a small open terrace serving as a smoking area for guests, so small that they had to move their legs to allow me to come through.

Breakfast was fine, not much choice but ok, served in the pub-restaurant I mentioned.

Free parking on the spot of a demolished house in front of the hotel. The neighborhood looks really grim, with half demolished buildings, bricked up windows, not a decent place to have dinner in the immediate proximity.

Would not recommend, neither the hotel nor the town. Staying in Leipzig you'd have more choice and an infinitely more interesting town to live in.

Wouldn't stay in Halle again

The Hotel Esprit was a bit off putting at first.  It is further from the town center than we expected - about a 20 minute walk, but a tram runs nearby.  The rooms are above a small bar/restaurant and there is no lift.  Our room faced the front and was large enough.  The towels were thin, but there was plenty of hot water.  We couldn't get the tv to work, but that was okay.  The breakfast was better than expected with eggs and fruit and meats and cheese, etc.  The smell of smoke lingered from the night before since the breakfast was served in the restaurant.  The proprietors were very nice.  The Hotel Esprit wasn't fancy but it was adequate, clean and welcoming.
