We are so grateful for our recent wonderful stay and experience at La Barde Montfort- we were there 4 nights.  Outside our window was a castle view to greet us each morning. As if that wasn't enough, Virginie and Eric were remarkable hosts- warm and friendly and willing to help with any situation.  We had a rental car issue and they immediately stepped up to help.  Great breakfast, clean and and SPACIOUS comfortable room,  and a fabulous hot shower with great water pressure.  Thanks for the stay. We whole heartedly recommend this property with it's VERY central and convenient location.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

We spent a week at La Barde as a family and would wholeheartedly recommend it. The hosts have recently taken over from previous owners and are on a mission to make your stay memorable.  The place is nice, great quality/location/price ratio, and Montfort is gorgeous with its castle on an outcrop.
The “table d’hôte” is a great way to sample the local food and wine without having to drive afterwards. We particularly appreciated that they went to the effort of cooking a special “kids meal” that was appealing to little gastronomes yet based on local cuisine (I.e. duck/cheese) and not the usual fried kids fare.
Go stay there.

A great place in Périgord Noir

At the end of September we returned to La Barde for the fourth time. Cleanliness, comfort of beds, generous and quality breakfasts (made at home for sweets). Frédéric and Pascal always listened and gave good advice about the strolls, tours (castles, caves and other excursions) as well as the restaurants that delighted our lovers. With a plus: a cocktail of joy and good mood every day.

In the heart of the Périgord, the Barde Montfort is a guest house that gives only a desire: to come... and come back.

It's a great stay.

We chose the Barde for our honeymoon and fell in love with the area, so it made sense that we returned as a family. The reception is warm, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, the breakfasts are generous and for all tastes. The house is ideally placed with a view of the castle of Montfort, the garden is very pleasant. If we do not know the area, no worries Frédéric and Pascal will be able to advise you both for visits and for restoration.

We had a wonderful family vacation, a great place and a very good breakfast, the rooms are comfortable, we highly recommend and will return without hesitation.

We had a great weekend in this guest room. Everything is very clean, inside and out. We slept and ate super well. A very quiet and pleasant place. Thank you to this lovely couple who keeps this magical place and their recommendations (to be followed absolutely!).

We've been here three years in a row, and we're not lace-laced. impeccable room, breakfast on top with fresh produce from the farm, great sweet and salty pastries, and seasonal fruit every day.

It's a beautiful place.

Great welcome to the Montfort Barge in the Perigord by Frédéric and Pascal. Spacious and quiet room, splendid breakfast  everything is homemade . Not to mention your valuable help in discovering this beautiful area, including recommendations for beautiful mouth addresses.

The Little Peep of the Perigord

Reposted to clarify some comments. 

We found the guest house to be a great base to explore the region and enjoyed use of the pool to relax after days in the sun. The room was clean and comfortable but due to lack of air conditioning, the nights were hot.   Breakfast choice was okay (seemed to be a lot of cakes) but they catered well for intolerances. You are limited however from 8:30-9:30, so just an hour window. These times were okay for us but it is quite limiting. There may be flexibility if needed, I imagine.   

The pool was large and a great temperature with loungers and parasols. But is only available from 2-10pm. So not great if you are wanting or planning morning swims at the guest house. We preferred to use the pool to cool down after a day exploring so this was fine for us.   

Hosts provided some nice recommendations for restaurants and activities and were welcoming. However they left a mark on the stay after I received an email shortly after leaving, which came across very rude and was unnecessary. We have been accused of “not respecting any of their rules” and eating in the room, which is totally not true. We only ever ate (once) on the grass outside. Learn to not accuse guests. It is now the lasting memory of the stay which is unfortunate and why I am giving three stars.
