A bit a difficult one:
+ surely a nice building and garden
+ good French breakfast

- smell of cold smoke in the house from open fire grill
- in the landing zone of the local airport

But from all houses we we visited on our trip along the French Atlantic coast, it was by far the most expensive one.  Too much in comparison

Place near Deauville

Unsure whether to award 5 or 4 for our stay at Manoir de la Croix Sonnet. There were some minor issues that just took the edge of our stay. The continental breakfast was excellent and we particularly liked the orange juicer!
Our room was clean, plenty large enough and the combined dressing room/bathroom was a good size too. The swimming pool was a nice bonus being well maintained as were the gardens and patio areas. Our host was friendly although we were handicapped by our lack of fluency in French. Easy drive into Trouville or Deauville for dinner where there are a wide range of restaurants.
Now for the "buts" - well minor issues really. Access to the property is difficult, being straight off a roundabout and you are faced with electric doors - ok if you have the key fob but not so good on first arrival. Doorway narrow for larger vehicles so care needed.
Bathroom and shower perhaps in need of an upgrade in not too distant future. 
We had to leave early (8am) to catch our ferry and no breakfast was available so we made do with tea and coffee making facility in our room.

Very Good B&B but.....

The house is indeed very nice and the hosts welcoming people. 

However, if you expect to have some rest in a quiet, relaxing place, it will be a very big disappointment. The aesthetics or the breakfast cannot make up for the other issues. 

There is something very tricky about the location, they won't give you a precise address till you get in touch with them ( look at the attached map that shows an area only), simply because the house is situated right at a crossroad with a very heavy traffic. 

You can forget about relaxing in the nice garden or at the pool, there are planes flying by every few minutes very low...just above your head. 

Even though you spend the whole day away, you can't have rest at night either. If you happen to get a room downstairs (under the staircase like us), all the guests enter late or during the night through a door situated 3 meters from the room, with no respect of others, shouting and walking up the stairs loudly just above you. 

We stayed there two nights and we were woken up several times by noisy guests. After they arrived they ran their bath for a very long time and you heard literally everything. Besides, the water pipes from above were passing through the room ( it was like staying under a waterfall). 

It's a shame.

Aesthetically pleasing  but terribly noisy

A very relaxing b&b in a beautiful manoir just outside of Trouville. It is very comfortable with clean, good sized bedrooms. The owners Nathalie and Jerome were extremely friendly and welcoming. There is a lovely breakfast of fresh fruit, freshly squeezed juice, bread, croissant, cheese, cold meats and yoghurt. 

The garden is beautiful with a heated swimming pool where you can swim or just relax on a lounger. 

The manoir is situated by a roundabout and near Deauville airport but it was not noisy. 

It is well situated for spending a few days visiting the area around Trouville, Deauville and Honfleur. I would definitely recommend the Manoir de la Croix Sonnet as a lovely place to stay

Lovely place to stay 

After much searching of hotels and b&b establishments we chose Manoir de la Croix Sonnet, because of its position and the excellent reviews. If  your are looking for a comfortable, friendly place to spend a few days in the Deauville/Trouville/Honfluer area of lower Normandy, I can thoroughly recommend Manoir de la Croix Sonnet. Natalie and Jerome made us very welcome and even had our rooms ready a little earlier, because we had arrived on the early ferry from the UK. The rooms were very nice and very clean, the breakfast was excellent and the hosts were warm and helpful. Definitely wort a visit, if only to cool off in the pool or just relax poolside.

Would definitely return

Staying at Manoir de la Croix-Sonnet was like being home from home.  Our room was clean and had everything we wanted including free and fast internet access.  The friendly and helpful owners made us feel welcome and relaxed, as we made ourselves at home in their beautiful home, lovely garden and heated pool.  The breakfast we were served was exceptional, a wonderful and unlimited variety of fresh fruits, fresh juice, proper coffee as well as breads, croissant and a range of locally produced dairy products.  The setting for breakfast within their large homely living space made breakfasting a treat too and was convivial to catching up with both the owners and other guests. The attention to detail that we encountered during our stay was refreshingly pleasing.  We will definitely be back and it's close proximity to Honfleur, Deauville and Trouville by car made its location ideal for us.
