I was travelling from Barcelona to Paris and from there to London so I needed somewhere to stay for the night whilst I was in Paris.

I chose Hotel Des Belges as it is really close to Gare Du Nord so would be ready handy for my onward journey.

When I booked the room I got notifications that I had to be back by 1am and to be honest this was fine for me.

Once I got to Paris I got the RER to Gare Du Nord and unfortunately came out of an entrance on the wrong side of the station but soon managed to find the hotel. I got checked in with a very welcoming lady and although her English was better than my French we managed to get everything sorted.

My room was very cosy. I had a double bed and a lovely bathroom. My shower was EXCELLENT! So hot and energising. 

After completing my morning routine I checked out and got permission to leave my bag at the hotel so I could collect it when I was leaving the city.

Later when I returned the lovely lady gave me my bag and my inhaler which I had mistakenly left in the room.

I would definitely stay here again based on the welcoming atmosphere from my hosts and the good room I had.

Plus the location is brilliant if you are travelling from Gare Du Nord or Gare De L'Est.

Superb Location, Wonderful Hosts

Pro:
-check in fast and quick. They give us the room at 10 oclock.
-room was clean and nice.
-quiet
-wi-fi connection realy good
-after leaving they accept to store our lugg
-not expensive, if you are looking for simple nice room, you will get it 
-good position, 1 min to gare du nord
-good english, if you want to speak with them, they will listen you

Contra:
-no AC to increase the temperature. they said that the heating was stoped about one week ago. they can have a electric heater for 20-30 minutes, just for the time before sleeping. if you have a problem with that, avoid this place, if no, go for it !!!

This hotel is very close to Gare du Nord, so handy for late arrival or early departure. Every basic necessities are there - clean room, ensuite, kettle and microwave at the reception. For what you get, it is very cheap in Paris. The owner is the star - always helpful, attentive, and prior to stay, very responsive to email / queries. Speak English too. I am happy with the stay knowing (from own experience) that I need to expect a lot of negative things from accommodation's host in Paris (refusal to return deposit, accused of not paying the bill and thus locked inside when we really need to leave and catch Eurostar among others). Recommended if you do not mind quite dated interior. 

Value hotel for the location

The room was very comfortable and warm.The bed was a large comfortable double bed.   The hotel staff were very nice.Tasty beer in the bar downstairs. The location is handy for the railway station. I would recommend this hotel

PLEASANT STAY

We were arriving late on the Eurostar from London so booked the best value for money place we could find on the internet. and it didn't disappoint. Right across the road which was very welcome as it was pouring down when we arrived, friendly welcome, warm and cosy rooms with en-suite, everything a bit old but clean and warm - also quiet as we were on the courtyard side. No lift but only 2-3 storeys and stairs are not steep. Had a great chat with the lady there who knew Australia well and had family there. Would not hesitate to go back.

Perfect budget accommodation across the road from Gare du Nord

I stay there on 15th March. Upon arrival friendly welcome.
Room is basic but clean. TV working well and wifi excellent.
Could have more towels. Room amenities basic but good quality. Hotel quiet, I was on 3rd floor. Happy with stay but 70€ expensive, worth 50€.
Great location!

Basic but good

We stayed here for 2 nights in November and we were very happy with it. The entrance to the hotel is an old bar so first impressions could put you off but the family who run the hotel are very welcoming and friendly and the room was really clean and cosy with a comfortable bed and a nice powerful shower. The location is perfect for visiting Paris, right beside the main train station Gare du Nord. It is a very busy area but the room was so quiet once we closed the balcony door, we couldn't believe how quiet it was, we slept like babies. There are loads of places to eat nearby and sites such as the Sacre Coeur and Moulin Rouge are within walking distance.  The accommodation is basic and small but that's Paris! It was great value. I would definitely stay here again. :)

Friendly, clean, comfortable and excellent location.

I only stayed for 1 night. Room was good sized and clean. Best part its how close it is to Gare Du Nord! Need to climb up 1 flight of stairs but thankfully i only had a small luggage. Free wifi in room.

Fuss free stay

Hotel Des Belges is a decent budget hotel right near Gare Du Nord train station.  It was perfect for me as I was coming in from London on the Eurostar for a short one-night stay and wanted something close by. For the cost (EUR 65 or roughly AUD 100) you get a basic private room (I stayed in Room 34) with single bed and shower and free Wi-Fi (which was fast and reliable).

If is a family run place and there were a lot of kids in the lobby area which also operates as a brasserie (one of the older children helped out at reception).  Mum was lovely and certainly had her hands full with running the hotel reception and managing the kids, but it was charming to watch and to be in a place some homely. The staff are all nice and speak basic English.

The only slight negatives were  the curfew and the fact you can’t bring guests to your room with you. Also, you have to return the key to reception each time you leave and then collect it when you get back to the hotel which was  annoying (do they really not trust grown adults?). If you have a lot of luggage please note that there is no elevator and you will need to carry the bags with you up stairs to your room.

In conclusion, what I recommend Hotel Des Belges? For a short, low-budget stay, yes I would.  For a longer stay, I may find somewhere with a few more facilities and less rules.

Decent Budget hotel near Gare du Nord

This small hotel next to a brasserie of the same name (under renovation when I stayed) has a great location a stone's thrown from the transport hub Gare du Nord.  Supermarkets nearby.  Restaurants in the area not the best unless you're just in a hurry.

I came here to watch the Olympics and the usual €100 room rate had shot up to €300 so I only stayed the necessary 1 night instead of the several nights I had really intended.   But that was the POG (Paris Olympic Greed) pandemic affecting Hotel des Belges ....  they were about the cheapest hotel available when I booked. 

Friendly English-speaking staff.  Room was basic - bed OK, bathroom (shower, sink, toilet, bidet) and TV small, internet just about OK. Can recommend for location and (when not suffering POG) price, not for comfort or luxury.  I usually stay more upmarket than this, but POG let me discover this friendly little bargain.
