I stayed for 3 nights with a group for sports activities in the area. The huts are simple but functional and the place is very nice, close to the water. The staff helped me on various occasions and I am grateful for Oxanne's (and her simling colleague Badr) service !

Nice setting and friendly staff

I recommend Ile des Pecheurs to families that want to have a great time on vacation including wonderful activities for the kids. I have never taken my children, who are 6 and 12 years old, to a vacation colony before since we have always preferred to rent isolated houses or hotels without community activities. I decided to try out something different and we were all completely surprised. 

The lodgings were very nice and extremely well situated right on the ocean. We ate outside just about every meal, morning lunch and diner. It was especially nice at night when we hung our lamps in the tree above the picnic table and grilled our meat on an electric grill that we rented from the office. 

The best part of our stay at the Ile-des-Pecheurs was the office staff and the animators for the diverse activities and the life guard at the pool. 

Here are some of the highlights:

I managed to get my rental mixed up and had a moment of panic when I was told that my rental was for the month of September instead of August but there was no problem getting the problem fixed and getting us into a Cabana. We also decided to extend our stay 3 more days which, even though it did not fit their weekly schedule, created absolutely no problems for them.

We had issues with a couple from Paris who complained that we were listening to music outside after 9:00PM at night (my son and I had checked out our volume previously and it was almost impossible to hear us from another cabana and confirmed by some other neighbors as well). They were very understanding and apologized that we were having problems, reassuring us that the Parisians would be leaving the next day so everything was cool. We were able to relax after that knowing that we could enjoy our evenings outside with the grill and some low volume music without hassles which was a relief.

My little girl probably had the most fun with the "Mini Club" which had daily activities of all kinds including a live show where all the children got to dress up and dance for all the parents. My girl had a blast because the animators were top notch instructors and very caring with everyone. We could tell that they really put their hearts into what they were doing and that they enjoyed their work as much as the children enjoyed the time they spent having fun together.

I can not give enough praise to the Ile-des-Pecheurs team, the lodgings, the community center and the activities. We will gladly spend more vacation time in Les Barcares in the future... they have everything in and around their community to make to most difficult to please families happy with their stay!

I highly recommend Ile-des-Pecheurs

We stayed at this giant holiday resort consisting of small selfcatering houses for one night and it was like a nightmare from hell. The logding was worned out and shabby but the worst thing was that they putted us in a house with a serious electrical fault. The stove was inpossible to turn off so we contacted the staff so the house wouldn´t burn down. They said that they were aware of the fault a man came and fixed something said that  everything was okey and left. After a while we noticed smoke, turned out he hadn´t fixed a thing and the wall and isolation behind the stove was burning. We have two small children who were a sleep on the second floor, hadn´t it been for my husband taking a closer look in the middle of the night we would have been dead now. When we calmy complaint to the manager she had a rude attitude. My husband said that we at least should have a discount, then she throwed 5 euros at his face. I like to warn people about this place. The place is poorly run, the houses do not suit elderly, handicapped or children due to steep stairs. The interior is horrible with worned out plastic floors and shabby decor. The area as a whole lacks french character and is horribly touristy. The location is also bad if you want to go to the village you need to cross the freeway. Do you self a favor and choose another place, there are several nice hotels in the nearby village.
