I stayed at this hostel for 2 nights and thought it was more than sufficient. My room was a decent size and well lit. The downsides, however, were: a lack of places to hang clothes, a lack of hot shower water despite waiting for 10-12 minutes for the water to warm up, and the fact that the two windows in the bathroom couldn't be closed tight so it got extremely cold at night. Wifi connection in the room was spotty. The terrace is nice and provides good views on a sunny day.

Decent hostel close to historic center

This hostel is very near "The Secret Garden", it's about two blocks away, and the reason why I am no longer staying at the SG is because it is a bit crowded with lots of people and I'd rather pay $10 - $12 for a single room and enjoy my privacy and peace of mind and not have to worry about my property than to pay $10 for a bunk bed in a room full of people I do not know and where doors are frequently left unlocked.

Attractive, quiet, clean, and pleasant

After getting turned away from my original hotel because of unannounced construction, I was welcomed with open arms at Hostal Chicago. The room was very nice, with it being cleaned daily (w. fresh towels). A plus at a hostel. The location is great, being 10 minutes walk to the Centro Historico and main market. Its close location to EcoVia at Simon Bolivar, Trolebus at Banco Central, and the La Marin interchange station which was a great plus. The staff was very amiable, being run by a family. The hospitality was excellent. I highly recommend Hostal Chicago

Chicago Hostal saved the trip!

This is a very well-located hostel with reasonable prices and friendly staff. One of their staff was very kind and let me keep my bag there free of charge while I checked out Quito and helped me arrange a taxi for an overnight bus to the Oriente. Had a really hard time getting hot water in the showers, but otherwise the place was great.

Few nights at Chicago Hostel

The location of this Hostel is great.  Major transit lines are close by.  The staff all speak very good english.  The room I had was small but it was perfect for a budget traveller who wants a clean, safe inexpensive room in central Quito.
