HOTEL El INDIO

The hotel is situated just around the corner from the central market place. Really nice and friendly staff. the hotel is clean. I had a nice and rather big room with tv and a good shower. The decoration is done with a good taste of art and culture. There are several places to sit or play games.  I really enjoyed it.

Great place to stay in Otovalo. Very close to Plaza del Ponchos for the market. Staff is friendly and some speak some english. Nice room, nice common area.   Market on the corner of the square for necessities and beverages if you are so inclined.  Make sure if you are staying here to specify Hotel El Indio.  There is an El Indio Inn (Owned by same people I think) Set up transport to Quito airport for us for 4. Good driver.

The hotel is very well situated right next to the market, so you basically step into it as soon as you go out. Also central for visiting other places of interest, such as the great pie shop on the plaza de ponchos. At the same time the windows were not with a view on the street, so no noise from the market. On the down side, the window was facing a next door apartment and also had a view on a shop with a glass ceiling below, so in terms of view not much enjoyment, but at least some fresh air was available if need be. The place has it´s charm, owned by a local indigenous family and decorated accordingly, very Otavalo. All services were decent, hot shower, good breakfast, friedly staff.

The hotel is in a great location next to the main Otavalo market. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the rooms while basic are clean and functional. There are some nice open areas to sit and relax. The rooms at the back in the newer wing are much better and very quiet, while the older rooms are on the street which can be noisy. The Internet is great, and the showers nice and hot. Breakfast is included, which was good except for the terrible coffee!

Great stay at Hotel El Indio!

Good location with local flavour

Decent hotel

The hotel is on a busy street and built in a swaure design with a garden center or sitting area in the middle of the square.  This makes it very noisy when people are coming into the hotel at night.  All rooms face the middle of the hotel area.  The beds were hard and the pillows hard.  There was a bath with shower.  The kitchen was open for breakfast only.  The rooms were not large.  Enough room for two beds and a night stand between.  A closet armoir was in a corner.  It was clean and the staff was very helpful with maps and directions.  The hotel is in the city center.

NOISY

We stayed in room 403.  It has a balcony overlooking the Plaza de Ponchos and the street, so plenty of light- also plenty of noise at night. Our room was right next to the place they kept the cleaning supplies etc and on Sunday at 6:30 am someone was rummaging in there. So much for sleep....
On Saturday morning we went to the Féria de Animales and Artisanal Market and when we came back hoping to take a shower, there was no hot water. In fact when we let it run hoping the water would warm up, the pressure just turned off. The bathroom also had that awful 3rd world plumbing smell.
The hotel does not offer breakfast (the only hotel in our 5 weeks in South America that didn't). The WiFi works ok but there is nothing to watch on TV.
Really can't recommend this place.

Location is all it has got

Noise, I can't sleep for the loud music and noise of the drunk people there. Rooms and furniture are old, and in the night,there no hot water. Is expensive for a old and noise hotel. I never think come back there. Next day I change of hotel out of the city
