12 reviewsWe holidayed for a week at Villa Tonka during the high season of mid-August . Our stay was enhanced by the attention and help that our host Marija, provided us during our stay with insightful ‘local’ tips on the best beaches, restaurants, day trips and even taxi fares. There was nothing she couldn’t do for us. If you don’t have a set itinerary, ask for her help! We stayed at the first floor apartment which included a kitchen area with microwave, fridge/freezer, a large homely living area, three large bedrooms, two bathrooms, as well as a private outside seating area and lawn that faced the sun all day. All areas were impeccably clean and well-maintained. The shared pool was also perfect for us as a family, with easy access from the apartment and often vacated for much of the day. The villa itself sits high above Makarska with a magnificent view across the harbour and promenade - look out for the fantastic sunsets! As others have said, it is a steep climb to the villa in the heat but taxis are plentiful from the town costing around £6 (€6.5). We found Villa Tonka a comfortable ‘home-away-from-home’ that provided a secluded, private haven away from the busy main town. We would highly recommend it to others.
