Fantastic
6 reviewsThis is by far the most beautiful, best-styled, and most professionally run hotel/bed and breakfast that I've been to in all of China. My friend and I stayed two nights, each in a different room. One room was 302 on the top floor, what the receptionist said was their nicest room with all wood/tree trunk furniture and a red claw-foot bathtub. That room was about 200rmb more than the ones right below it which have no bathtub but instead feature a giant picture window with an enormous window seat. If you really must take a bath, and I don't blame you, than go for one of the top rooms. But the ones on the second floor actually feel more spacious and after having spent a night in both 302 and 202, both my friend and I prefer room 202 because of the window seat. This is a very small hotel and the receptionist was very helpful with suggestions for places to eat and things to do in the area, however that was all in Cantonese and I'm not sure if there is an English speaker who works here. The hotel is on a little peninsula which juts out into the lake. If you follow the path around you'll find tons of coffee shops, restaurants, bars, art galleries, even a little bookshop, but most of these don't open up until evening. Go at night, the shops look so much cuter at night. (The vegetarian/Tibetan restaurant down the road was just okay, the western place Make Some Different was amazing, and Magic Cube was just okay). Seven stars crags is right across the way but you have to go another way to actually enter the park. However there are old ladies on tricycles who will probably be more than happy to help you. It's also an ideal place to stay if you want an amazingly comfortable place to stay. Please note that there were no stores nearby for snacks or whatnot, so bring those. Our room came with fresh fruit, tea, and delicious shortbread cookies. The breakfast in the morning was like western/Chinese fusion, heavy on the carbs with something for everyone (ours had oatmeal, zongzi, toast, potatoes, fruit, an egg, bacon ect). Coffee is available at breakfast but we had to ask for it. Our only suggestion is high quality bath products (shampoo). The rooms were spotless and the view was so, so good.
