We booked the hotel in weeks advance via a popular booking site. Later, just before 3 days of our trip when we directly contacted the hotel to pre-arrange an airport taxi, they mailed us saying, we have to cancel our booking and re-book it again at revised price (much higher) as that is a holiday in China! Had to sort that with help of a customer support and finally they agreed to take us at same rate.

Later, on the day of arrival at Guilin, we were already on a pre-booked day-tour at Yangshuo when they again mailed us saying, if we don't check in before 6pm they will cancel our booking and take new customer. No where they had informed such condition before! We tried requesting them that we are arriving for sure but might be late, so keep the room. They did not agree. Our tour guide tried convincing them in Chinese, then also they did not agree.
Getting such a short notice obviously does not help! We could not make it before 6pm and they happily canceled our reservation! We got saved due to our kind tour guide who quickly helped us arranging a room for the night at another hotel.

Request to fellow travelers to be aware about these facts and you may prefer another hotel. It's very risky specially for the foreigners who might get helpless at last moment in a new country.
