Warm welcome and very good breakfast.  Breathtaking view of the river.  Don't choose the ground level room as it lacks privacy and is very small.  Owners are warm and helpful but their humour can be a little out of place.

My cousin, a friend and I stayed on Gite a la Vieille Ecole for a night. Yvon and Maude were super friendly. The breakfast was good. The house is very nice and the view is amazing! I absolutely recommend it!!

Beautiful place!

This B&B is situated outside of La Baie, in a quiet location. The lake view from the property is fantastic.

The rooms had a nice cosy decor, we booked a room with a shared bathroom. We had to go downstairs to reach it, which is just o.k. during the night.

Breakfast the next morning was very good, lots of food, prepared fresh. The hosts gave lots of helpful information about the area, things to do.

One thing which was very peculiar is that you have to take off your shoes when you enter the B&B - understandable in winter or in rainy, muddy weather, but not in dry summer weather. We did not encounter this in any of the other B&Bs which we visited during our trip to Canada, nor anywhere else in the world.

After spending time in Toronto, Montreal and Quebec city, it was so nice to see some Quebec countryside, beautiful rivers, nice walks and the migrating snowgeese.  We really enjoyed our time around La Baie  thanks especially to our wonderful hosts Maude and Yvon who went out of their way to help us. We were going to stay only two nights but stayed another night as we felt so relaxed.

 La Vielle Ecole is located overlooking the river and is about a ten minute drive from La Baie. We stayed in the double bedroom upstairs and it was clean and comfortable with quirky little touches. There are stairs and the floor squeaks but we are in our 60's, had no problems and slept well for the three nights we were there.
Had a nice meal at a local restaurant organised by Maude. Both Maude and Yvon speak English and French well and even understood our Aussie accent most of the time. Ha Ha. 
The breakfasts were very tasty and plentiful but it was really the lovely warm hosts who made our stay so enjoyable. One night it was warm enough to set up the outdoor seating and we  had a lovely picnic dinner with supplies bought from IGA store at La Baie. 

Would go back there this weekend,  if we could manage the thirty hours of travel and costs of airfares.

Warm and Real People

This small B&B is quite welcoming as the owners are very pleasant and personable.  The whole house is extremely clean and in order.  Our room had a single bed and 2 double beds.  Tall guest beware, the beds are short!  Nice towels, full bathroom with shower and plenty of space in the room.  Wi-Fi is free and breakfast is served between 7:30 and 9:30.  Great local cheeses, home-made muffins, fruit and yogurt and a main dish of eggs, ham, etc. was plentiful!  It is located in the country, about 15 minutes from Chicoutimi, in a very quiet area, next to the river.  Keep in mind they have a few cats in the kitchen, but no smell or hair lying around, and they don't make their way upstairs to the rooms level.  Very nicely done!
