A big fire engulfed Northgate Lodge and it burned to the ground. When I stayed there in July, the property was reasonably well managed, yet needed some repairs.  The service was friendly as always. The internet service is free, but it can only be accessed from the lounge or from a few rooms.

This Lodge is in need of some tlc. The swimming pool was pea green. Recommend the newer rooms facing the car park. Rooms are clean and have airconditioners. The food served in the restaurant was poor....steak was inedible it was so tough.....meal took over an hour to be prepared. Stay here if you have to.... Tip: take mosquito repellent. 

Serves the purpose of a stopover 

If it is important to stay inside Nata, then Northgate Lodge provides a safe and clean opportunity, with a hospitable staff and a variety of rooms.  Even though the court yard is cozy, it is by no means a luxury lodge, but the simple breakfast bar includes fruit, yogurt and cereal, selected hot dishes from the menu, as well as juice and hot drinks.  The lunch and dinner menus include pizza, as well as good Botswana beef dishes, chicken and even short ribs.  The portions are nice, but a 30 minute wait for the preparation of the meals is normal.  All rooms have mosquito nets and are kept very tidy.  Wifi is only in the lobby and lounge area. Like most lodges, they offer tours and they have a small curio shop too, as well as a conference room. Being located in town, it can get noisy at night and since Nata is a major truck stop, early evening and morning is a busy time in town and quite noisy. There is also a bus stop next to the lodge and some buses arrive late at night.  As such it is convenient for bus travelers.

Taking in mind that we havent booked anything before hand, Im quite impressed with the Lodge.  The restaurant do not have a lot of a choice to order, but food was very nice and well prepared.  Rooms not very big, but fine for a one night stay.  Will just recommend aircons, as they roof fan is very noisy - taking in mind that I only have 55% hearing, this must be a problem for somebody with normal hearing.
Staff a bit uninformed - add up the bill incorrectly and came to my room, after I went to bed to say that they were wrong with the bill and I have to pay another P135 in.  I was not impressed at all - do not disturb a guest, when they are already in bed.  Furtheron, cant complain.  Wifi only work in the reception and restaurant area, not in the rooms.
On our way back to SA we stopped there again to eat something and the stafff were very friendly.

A bit overpriced, but comfortable enough for a one night stay

The lodge is awfully neglected and dilapidated. We stayed here 4 years back and could not believe how it has deteriorated. The pool is complete empty now. The rooms needs touching up and the towels were clean but almost to the stage of rags. Between the blankets were a lot of sand! 
The lodge is right next to a bar and a truck stop. So the noise levels are extremely high right through the night. Music pumping into the am. Trucks pulling in ad out and even blowing the load horns all night long. We did not sleep at all.
The plus point was our friendly waitress Baone and dinner was good and tasteful and breakfast was plentiful. But we will really not stay here again.

Please try avoid at all cost

We arrived on 30 November and the entire lodge was burned to the ground!  No one around to explain.  It didn't appear to be freshly burned.  Why are they still taking reservations and payments? On arrival the swimming pool was green with algae.  First thing to be seen.  Room was smelly, bathroom shower leaked terribly, wall covered in mould.  Near mani room so truck noise all night.

Booked online.  When we arrived to check-in the found the place unkept, dirty, dilapidated, the pool slimy green and the place had a distinct air of being abandoned!  Staff disinterested and when I asked to speak to the Manager he was unconcerned about the state of things.  I cancelled my booking and asked for a refund which I hope I can get through Expedia.  Not recommended!

Unsuitable for Tourists!

Arrived to find the hotel in a shocking state. Pool filthy and green. places looks dilapidated, uncared for and not at all as advertised.  Receptionist rude and uninterested. Asked for the Manager and after some strong discussion we cancelled our booking, which the Manager did for us on site and will demand a refund through Expedia.

We spent only one night there, and it was just horrible. The first room we were led in was dirty and even didn't have a toilet seat. The room we got then was a little bit better but didn't have a working air condotion. The staff in general was very unfriendly, the offered food much less than average.To sum it up: This accomodation doesn't deserve the name lodge, it's a motel. Never ever again!
