Chaltunha Hostel San Ignacio

This hostel was perfect for a large group travelling together as it was more of a home than a hostel. We had the whole place to ourselves meaning we filled both the dorms and were able to use the living room and kitchen along with the two bathrooms without any interruption from anyone - it was basically our own private house. The hammock and decking were appreciated in the lazy heat of San Ignacio in the afternoons, as was the fans and super powerful air conditioning. Cosy and simple, this place met all our needs.

Very well located, clean, comfy beds, great air conditioning in the rooms, fully equipped kitchen, cable TV, guide books, clean bathrooms with hot water. A balcony with hammock and a great view! A great place to relax, rest and meet great people. You can wash your clothes for FREE and hang them to dry in the balcony. Windy, the owner is amazing! By the end of my stay we were great friends! She is lively, friendly and extremely helpful! I had a great time with her!! She knew the answer for all my questions. She organizes tours, taxi rides and arranges everything you need. She has the best recommendations of places to go and eat. She helped me planning all my days in San Ignazio and by the end I didn't want to leave! She even gave me a free ride to the border with Guatemala in my last day. I do recommend Chaltunha Hostel and look forward to go back!!

This hostel was a great, cozy place and easy to meet other people. It's a 5 min walk to the main area of town, had everything you needed to cook, plus included coffee which was a nice bonus early in the mornings :) Wendy was really friendly and kept the place very clean. It's nothing fancy in the rooms and slightly crowded but had plenty of lounge space so you didn't need to be in the room much anyway. Recommended!

Loved the swimming pool and the amazing view across the water to Flores. Very good value. San Miguel is also very lovely. So peaceful. The mattresses in the cabins are a bit worn but the cabins themselves are perfect - I thought! Set amongst the foliage.

Great little home

I simply loved staying there!!

Great little place 

Amazing view

Lovely hosts! However, unbelievably uncomfy beds - 2 nights and a very very sore back. Holes in the duvets and sheets and the pillows seemed to be made of cotton wool balls. However the air con was pretty powerful.
