My recent visit to Ford de l’eau was mainly for nostalgia, a time travel when I use to go for ice creams and the beach.  Unfortunately, it’s no longer the “little Paris” of my childhood, the younger generations all but abandoned their beaches and their beautiful seaside resort and joined the self-destruction of their environment with plastic bottles all over it!  However, my stay at the residence Ford de l’eau has made up for all the disappointment I saw in Algiers streets.  The owner and his young team are the jewel of Borj el Kiffan (the Arabic name of the city).  The welcome was presidential if not better.  The friendliness I witnessed was with all the tourists.Food wise you’ll be spoiled with choice in Ford de l’eau, I normally go for grilled fish dishes when I visit Algiers and the owner’s recommendation didn’t disappoint at all. In fact, we went to a beach restaurant run by an angler that cooks his daily catch from a variety of local fish, Espadon, Rascasse, Rouget, Pagre and succulent Mediterranean prawns and Sipia. Opposite to the residence, you will find a nice restaurant that serves fresh grilled fish with nice salads. There is also a popular restaurant 10mn walk from the residence that serves the famous Mashwi, you can also take the tramway which is only two stops away.  You can order fruits from a very friendly fruit stall owner and a local hero just opposite the residence. The atmosphere is certainly not for snobbish people.  I like to think I am not.

Value for money!

Very good value for money. nice and friendly owners and maids. excellent location close by to supermarket, convenience stores, butcher's, restaurants, tramway, airport, seafront and local masjid. Had a misunderstanding with the type of room booked but this was solved by management as soon as possible. Would definitely go back again in future.No lift so if you are any higher than the 3rd floor it can be quite tiring going up the stairs especially with heavy luggage.the apartment had cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, double bedroom and decent size bathroom/wetroom with shower. No kettle and no iron so bring your own.

Good place

The side of the place is great. They are nearby the beach, stores, and the train.  The English speaking staff is friendly and work very hard to make you feel welcome. They have a lot of stairs to get to the apartment but for the price and the side just do it!

If you are looking to save money.....Its GREAT!

The people speak English!!! Being from America that was important because I do not speak any Arabic.  They go out of there way to help you in any way they can. The apartments are big if you get the right on number 5 was huge so if you come with a family or a lot of people this is the one to ask for. It had everything you needed. The wifi worked each day.  But, they did not have towels for the bathroom to dry off with. I can be a little picky but for the money and the fact it was right by the train and the stores were right next door it was great! The beach is also within walking distance.  I stayed 3 nights and everyone was welcoming and nice!
