Perfectly located along the Mighty Zambezi river, so we were lucky to have some Elephants visit us during the day. 

Celebrating our 10th year wedding annivesary and having Thorntree River lodge end off such a magical Safari trip was the best decision! They truly made my stay so romantic with all the rose petals, bubble baths, super stocked mini bar, private cadle light dinners on the jetti, sundowners, boat cruises and sooooo much more. 
Our stay was super exciting and filled with plenty of memorable moments especially our safari walk with the Rhinos, Zebras, Mpalas and Wildebeest all at the same time!!!
That was a super special experience, Thank you very much!

We arrived on my birthday after a long flight and a mess at immigration. When we pulled up and 10 people came out to welcome us with a smile and a joyful song I strayed crying. Our experience was top notch from start to finish due in most part by the AMAZING staff. Our cabin had every comfort available, along with a fully stocked and refillable mini bar. The food was unbelievable. We had a sunset cruise on arrival, followed by a romantic dinner by candlelight while listening to hippos splashing in the water. Then a whole birthday cake delivered by smiling staff while singing to me in Africaan. EZ our guide was the greatest. He arranged for an afternoon boat ride the next day with lunch and wine. We went to the falls,  did a rhino walk, relaxed on our patio ( watch out for baboons)! Even after 3 nights I was sad to leave. Special thanks to EZ, Olipi, Haggai, Justine, Mercy, Bridget, Ellie, and Anod who made all the delicious meals. You all made special memories we will hold in our hearts forever.

We absolutely loved Thorntree! This was our first stop on our one week Africa trip before heading to Botswana. We spent three nights here, a perfect amount of time. The location right on the Zambezi River is beautiful. We saw vertet monkeys every day at the resort as well as crocodiles and hippos in the river right in front. Our guide, Nevy, was so kind and knowledgeable. He was with us throughout our stay and took us on our morning and afternoon activities. Our first evening we went on a sunset boat tour, where we saw lots of crocodiles, birds, and hippos. We visited Victoria Falls- we chose to visit both the Zambia and Zimbabwe sides (highly recommend). We visited the protected white rhinos. We went on a game drive through the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park. There are no cats there, but we saw giraffes, elephants, baboons, warthogs, vertet monkeys, etc. We also went fishing one evening on the Zambezi River and caught a tiger fish. The food was fantastic- always several options to choose from. And lots of wine! The staff plan so many lovely surprises along the way.

The rooms are incredible and quite large! We loved sitting out on the deck by the river. The pool was not heated, so it was too cold to enjoy in July. We appreciated the heating and air conditioning as the mid July nights were cool (in the 50's) and days were warm (in the 80's and 90's). Highly recommend African Bush Camps and Thorntree!

This was truly a 5+ star bucket list experience. We were treated with the utmost respect, generosity and kindness by every staff member. We appreciated the understated luxury, attention to detail, magnificent lodge decor, the on-the-Zambezi River setting, the phenomenal food, guides, trip to the epic Vic Falls and optional activities. Hard to find any areas of improvement! We were celebrating a 50th and 60th Bday but felt like a second honeymoon!

After traveling through more than 50 countries and staying in dozens of hotels, this was certainly one of the nicest and the service the best I have ever experienced. 
Our house had a great view of the Zambezi, a beautiful terrace with pool and privacy was guaranteed at all times. 
The food was excellent, the location by and on the river romantic and the staff super attentive. 
Special thanks to Bridget, who brightened up the morning sunshine with her friendliness and smile.

Arriving on the banks of the vast Zambezi River was so relaxing as we enjoyed our glamping "tent" cabin and the main lodge.  The staff is very attentive, and the choice of food is amazing.  The Wi-fi Lounge in the Library was a quiet haven and the store provided local craft items at very reasonable prices.  Hellen was a friendly and helpful manager at Thorntree Lodge.  
Zebras and a warthog enjoyed grazing on the nearby lawns.  You are never endangered by the animals who basically ignore you.  But when it is dark, an attendant with a flashlight walks you to and from your luxurious cabin that even has your own pool, indoor/outdoor shower, and mini bar.  Of course there is the requisite mosquito netting around the bed for sleeping comfortably each night.
Taking the sunset cruise on the Zambezi in a pontoon boat was just what we needed after a long day of travel.  The surprise was to stop and disembark at a nearby island for our "Sundowner" drinks and snacks.
Quentino was our friendly and very knowledgeable professional guide around the UNESCO Heritage site of Victoria Falls and the Livingstone City area. When I realized that I had lost my sunglasses in the local craft market, he went back and found them while we were out exploring the river on a speed boat trip to Livingstone Island and a close up viewing of the incredible falls with another guide.  Do not plan to go to see the Victoria Falls in April as that is the rainy season and they are thunderously overflowing that local site where you will get drenched. 
Quentino also got us privileged access to view the endangered white rhinos which are free-roaming but guarded 24/7 by armed guards as their protectors from poachers.  Yes, I would recommend this African Bush Camp experience at Thorntree Lodge to you travelers!

Located on the Zambezi river the lodge is just gorgeous. Spacious suites with a plunge pool and overlooking the river this is just one of a few wonderful African Bush Camps that should be on a safari tour. Wonderful friendly staff and great food is just a few reasons to stay here, but being in the midst of nature and being close with animals is the real key! Add it to your bucket list

Just completed a 3 day stay at the lodge. Received a warm greetings by the staff. Shown to suite #10. We'll designed. Great views. Loved having the plunge pool but water just too cold for plunging. Loved the outdoor shower and longing area. Room cleaning was immaculate. We should have kept the mosquito netting down each night because there were mosquito. Food choices and quality was exceptional. Breakfast was very special. Staff was excellent. English spoken well. Guides were excellent with a great deal of knowledge. Junior and Zita were our primary guides and they were great. Do visit both sides of the Falls. Just a very enjoyable 3 days. I would stay here again if I were visiting Livingstone.

We had the most amazing time at Thorntree River Lodge. The staff were so friendly, attentive, efficient and also gave a personal experience knowing our names and plans. 
The accomodation was outstanding with spectacular Zambezi river views and our own private pools. 
The kids were gifted Ngwana gift bags with items like binoculars, torch and compass which they carried everywhere with excitement.
The food was delicious, we enjoyed crayfish from Zambezi river, fillet beef, great breakfasts and different cocktails. 
A special thanks to our guide Philip who was very knowledgeable and friendly, he spent a lot of time with us and went above and beyond. 
We would highly recommend Thorntree River Lodge to families and also couples/singles etc
