A perfect respite from the world in 2020. We booked the two newer cabins for our grown kids and ourselves for Thanksgiving. So cozy with heated floors and beautifully appointed furnishings. The cabins are equipped with everything you need. The small table even expended so that we could have dinner as a family in one cabin! As always, everything is just perfect at House On Metolius. Cheers!

Cozy space on the Metolius

We stayed in the Tamarack cabin which is very new.  The cabin was spotless and comfortable with heated bathroom floors (a nice treat!).  The beds were comfortable and the kitchen has all the basics. The views and property cannot be beat.  There are many trails to wander and you feel like you have the entire place to yourself. The property is close to the Camp Sherman store and you can drive about 20 minutes to Sisters. Also enjoyed visiting the nearby Scout Lake for swimming and nearby river rafting.  Bring some board games and good books because the wi-fi is elusive.

Peaceful retreat

Can't recommend the House on Metolius enough! The venue is basically impossible to top- the mountains, trees, river, and the details in the architecture are so beautiful. Being able to rent out all the cabins and have the venue all to the wedding part and family was truly amazing and such a great experience. It was not only a great wedding day, but wedding weekend. The staff is so kind and hardworking. We never had any questions not answered. They go above and beyond for people staying there, and you can truly tell they care about the property. The family feel is so special. They were also extremely flexible with bringing in caterers, drinks, any props, etc. Our photos turned out so good and we will always cherish that day!

Most beautiful wedding venue!

Once you visit House on Metolius, it's hard to imagine getting married anywhere else. This was the case for us. Although the venue is expensive and more than we had initially hoped to spend (especially because no catering/bar tending/site coordinator included), if you are set on a wedding in Central Oregon, like we were, it's hard to top HOM. We planned our wedding from a different state and Rachel and Angie were very responsive to questions we asked. I really appreciated that once we were in the space, it didn't feel like staff were 'checking in' on us, and it felt very private - but then of course someone was always available via walkie talkie to help out with whatever. They're seasoned professionals and have hosted weddings with all types of different variables and requests -- size, layouts, weather, etc. -- and they were willing to consider any requests that we threw their way, up until the final hours. Highly recommend House on Metolius, we loved getting married there, and our guests loved experiencing Camp Sherman and HOM, one of our favorite places in the world.

Beautiful place to get married

Wow! House on Metolius exceeded all of our expectations. The property is spectacular and the main house is warm, spacious and beautiful. Eleanor's Cabin is also lovely and the views are amazing. For our group of 20 it was just perfect. We loved being able to gather in the big living room of the main house and appreciated the fireplaces in both the living and dining areas. Our friends loved fishing and hiking on the Metolius as well as playing croquet on the lawn. The staff is absolutely excellent. Everyone is very friendly and helpful and they went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful place with us. We will definitely be back!

What an Exceptional Place

Every time we walk onto the property at HOM, we feel at peace, our hearts are full and we experience such a deep sense of gratefulness for the space and beauty we experience with every step we take. My husband and I knew before ever even being engaged that this was absolutely the place we wanted to exchange our marriage vows amongst our closest family and friends. This place is not only breathtaking in view and experience, but the staff led by Mark and Penny are constantly on hand to raise the bar on service and attention. They carried themselves like family, attending to us and the details of our day with such care and pure joy.

The Best Wedding Weekend

Got that butterfly feeling walking out onto this property more than any other step of the wedding process... besides meeting my now husband of course. This place really is something special. It feels remote and far away from the rest of the world but is only a 30-minute drive from town. Both Mark and Penny were an absolute joy to work with - treating our entire families like extensions of their own, making sure everything was taken care of and made the process as carefree as possible when it comes to planning a wedding. The entire staff was wonderful, accommodations were exquisite, and views were out of this world. If you want a venue that guests won't be able to stop talking about, where you don't have to spend a single dollar on decorations because the natural beauty is the biggest distraction... House On Metolius is the spot! We can't wait to come back for many anniversaries to come!

Heaven on Earth

This is one of those places that on one hand you want to rave about and on the other hand you want to not say anything so it stays a best kept secret. So I'll just leave my 5-star rating right there and you can book to see for yourself.

place of beauty and peace

Upon seeing House on Metolius for the first time, we quickly canceled all the other appointments we had to see other venues. The property itself is unimaginably beautiful, with the stunning Metolius River running through it and Mt. Jefferson perfectly framed in the background. Being a person very nervous about planning a wedding, I could tell from first meeting that Penny was going to be easy to work with. Throughout the past year, she struck the perfect balance between being accommodating and giving us great tips about what tends to work best out there for weddings. 

We rented out the Main House, Eleanor's cabin, and the Powerhouse for our family and wedding party to stay. The accommodations were wonderful and we were happy to have our closest friends and family on site. 

We arrived on Thursday before our Saturday wedding and we were glad to have the extra day to enjoy the property and prep for the wedding. My mother fully utilized the industrial-sized kitchen while baking all the cakes for the wedding. My step-father officiated our ceremony and needed help printing some documents from his laptop that was breaking down. Penny took on his project wholeheartedly and helped him retrieve the documents and print them out over several hours time. Every project we worked on during the several days out there and every hiccup that came up, Mark and Penny helped troubleshoot and ensure that everything went smoothly. 

The day of the wedding, we experienced high winds in the morning and unexpected rain and chilly temperatures in the evening. The staff at House on Metolius worked hard to make a smooth transition indoors after dinner and build a cozy fire. While I was disappointed about the weather, our guests were unfazed. We had a wonderful reception inside afterwards. Our guests have raved about the House on Metolius since the wedding, from the views on the property to the entire herd of cows that meandered over to attend the wedding (our favorite part!) :) 

Mark, Penny, and the rest of the staff at House on Metolius are personable, easy-going, and genuine. I almost felt like I was working on a giant project with friends....very professional friends. 

If I have any complaints, it's that our time at House on Metolius was too short and that we had to put together a wedding while we were there. We will definitely be back, with goals of relaxation, knowing that House on Metolius can most certainly deliver. There is also talk of a family reunion in the future. I imagine that House on Metolius is a place one cannot only visit once...
