The hotel had no cold water conditions very poor checking in poor the worse hotel I bern to since travelling over 40 years however was told by night security hotel closing down its a shame as if money pushed in there good be up and running again Hotel needs urgent refurbishment I thought I was in a concentration camp or an open prison with manor man bates the guy whom checked us in

The room was like a furnace, the shower had a trickle of water, windows hardly opened

Very tired hotel on the point of closing.  No catering available and no alternatives close by. Only positive is how quiet it was. Not recommended

Give it a miss

Although this 'hotel' (more like a motel)  is situated on the main A12 dual carriageway, the rooms are so peaceful and quiet. So relaxing. I have stayed here previously and it was the same then. You can park your car near to where your room is situated. My room was large, with a really comfortable double bed, two chairs, an easy to use TV and a very nice, modern shower room, all at a good price. What a pity they do not offer breakfast!

We had 5 double rooms at The Rivenhall Hotel for our family group to attend a wedding locally. We were a little disappointed to be informed by the hotel that the restaurant wouldn’t be open but they gave us plenty of notice. On checking out their website after we’d booked we were alarmed to read that the hotel was closing down completely. I called them and spoke to a very helpful receptionist who assured me that we had the ‘500’ rooms and these were the better rooms in the hotel. And so they were! They were comfortable, clean and had all we needed for our two night stay. Two rooms even had air conditioning. We were able to park our cars close to the rooms. Parking and WiFi were free of charge.  It is true that the gardens are now somewhat overgrown and look a little uncared for but the staff were excellent and a credit to the hotel.  Although the restaurant was closed there was a table in reception where plates and utensils were available for guests if they wanted to order a takeaway meal. 
With money spent to update some of the rooms I would have thought that the hotel could once again become a thriving enterprise.

Sorry it’s closing

Was quite pricey for what it actually was, was slightly disappointed. The hotel itself was very noisy with guests up and banging until the early hours of the morning, satnav takes you to a different location from the postcode provided and the shops are miles away

Average, small and clean

We booked this hotel as it was the only one available. The room was clean but it really was like stepping back into the 1990’s . The rooms were a chalet design and you could see that many were uninhabitable. No food was available as the restaurant had closed down .
The view from the rooms was like looking onto roadworks with road signs and building materials everywhere. The staff were polite but overall it needs a complete upgrade.

Served a purpose

This hotel has seen better days . Looks like it hasn’t had money spent on it for many years . Many rooms look like they’ve been abandoned. Outside is being used to dump equipment for road works eg signs cones

The hotel is closing in september so its clear it needs some work. It was generally clean though and the bed comfy so for the money it was fine

Clean and comfy bed, but dated hotel

Staff were very friendly & helpful. Although I would suggest they have more than 1 member of staff on at night time. Room, although outdated, was clean enough. Beds were uncomfortable and the noise of the doors opening/closing was a bit to much. But it’s a nice quirky little hidden gem.
