The rooms are very clean, staff friendly and welcoming

Great little hot with olde world charm. Thursday is steak night with all the trimmings and a pint for £15, amazing value!! All perfece cooked. Probably the best steak I have had! Nice range of ales and great service.

Great hotel

We had the carvery, the beef was well cooked but small portion, uninspiring selection of vegetables, the sprouts were not edible, needed another 10 mins in the pan, the rest of the meal was ok, the service was good, had eaten in The Dolphin before, this time the meal did not impress.

Disappointed visit

Great pub food,good choice and very social staff. Dog friendly. The range of ciders are superb. Good range of pub food with all the usuals on the menu and the prices aren’t bad either. Looking forward to our next visits over the next few weeks.

Great pub food

What an absolute delight it was to stay at dolphin . The staff are warm and welcoming and Liz and John the landlord could not do enough for me.  They made me feel very welcome and as I am crutches helped me with walking my dog and with any other special needs I had.  The rooms are spotless as is the Hotel itself.  The breakfast is out of this world with a fantastically clean breakfast room full of lovely fresh juices , cereals and other lovely goodies.  Then as if that wasn't enough you get the choice of either a freshly cooked delicious full English breakfast which was just lovely.  My partner is gluten free and without even having to ask Liz and John catered for his needs too supplying fresh gluten free options for him too.  Outstanding service.  Outstanding people.  I loved my stay with them and it was so lovely that I actually felt a little bit sad when I left.  This place has been made into a little slice of heaven and if you need a place to lay your head and be spoilt rotten then you should most definitely book at the dolphin.  I am 52 and with my old job had to stay in alot of hotels over the years but this place beats the lot hands down and I highly recommend it you won't regret it if I could give them good ten stars I would .  Absolutely super!!

A little slice of heaven

We pulled off the A303 on the way to taking our daughter to university. It was a really hot day. The staff were friendly. We ordered standard pub grub; a jacket potato, a baguette and a veggie burger. It all came really nicely presented with a lovely fresh side salad and was tasty. A really nice find.

Lovely food

We booked 2 rooms as the family room had been taken. They were clean, tidy and good amount of tea, coffee and hot chocolate. Towels were good and bathroom was clean and functional.
The place is tired, but it is a friendly place and all staff were pleasent and helpful. The food was the best thing about our stay, mushroom risotto, burger that made my some eyes pop put, ham egg and chips were on another level.

I am gluten free and the next morning it was great to find they had gone out of their way to provide a seperate toaster, bread and cerials for choices, aswell as gf sausage on a gorgeous breakfast.

The only downside was we didn't know when we booked that there was a drum and bass evening on so it was loud, retiring to our rooms early with kids as it was too much. The music to be fair stopped at 11.45 and the security made sure all had exited.
It is what it is!! 

Good food and friendly

Stop over for long journey home from Cornwall, stayed in a family room - 1 adult & 2 kids but given 1single & 1double.  Was ok but not ideal.  Room was dusty & in need of good clean under beds & behind furniture, hanging cobwebs. The shower door was hanging off  although could still use.  Decor very drab which added to dated feel of the room. Whilst the beds were comfy the pillows were flat.  Lots of tea & coffee supplied, great tv with choices for kids.  Had an evening meal, food was great although had to move as from garden as the language from younger drinkers was a shocker and the kids felt v uncomfortable hearing it.  Not really an issue with the owners but a local pub with a young crowd so something to be mindful of if travelling with kids.  Overall we enjoyed our stay, owners were lovely as was the food, and ok value for money.

Friendly and helpful staff, and allowed us an early check in to the room early as we were going to a wedding.  Room was rather small and only had a skylight, no "proper" window but we didn't spend much time in the room.  Small shower room, but the shower itself was great. Good breakfast.
