I had the pleasure of boarding here with my colleague Alan for 1 week, Sarah and Paul made us feel very welcome nothing too much trouble. Breakfast was great in fact the best great cook Paul!!! Your eggs were perfect never a overcooked one lol Sarah your attention to detail in the running of your business was 👌thanks for looking after us 👍

Mendip Gate Guest House  

Amazing hospitality from the owners. Beautiful stay in gorgeous surroundings. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Amazing breakfast and a good choice of what you wanted to eat. Would recommend this to anyone.

We stayed in this guest house with a family of 6 and had three rooms. one with an ensuite bathroom and two rooms sharing a bathroom. This guest house was spotlessly clean everywhere and the host was very welcoming. The food was excellent. The accommodation is located on the A38, close to walks in the Mendip Hills and Cheddar Gorge and about a 30-minute drive from the city of Bristol. The A38 is the main road, which makes getting around very easy. However, as our room was at the front of the house and the nights were very wam, we tried sleeping with the windows open. There was some traffic noise, as can be expected along this road. All in all an extremely pleasant stay.

Clean, Comfortable, lots of Character and Charm.

This is a definite 'return to' stop over when we are flying from Bristol airport. Our stay was really good, from the messaging, the warm welcome with coffee & mince pies, & a cosy wood burner to sit beside. The room was clean & very comfortable & we slept well. We had an early start so we requested early cooked breakfasts as soon as they started serving (I think it was 07.30). Amazing, with lovely produce. Really nice people, helpful advice about local pubs, and we would not hesitate to stay here again. Thanks for making the start of our holiday so good!

Excellent one night stay

we had a really early flight so we stayed for one night and left our car there while we were away on holiday, warm welcome from Sarah, pot of tea on arrival and information where to eat for the best value, beautiful room, transport to & from the airport arranged, excellent stay would highly recommend

airport stop over

Perfect Guesthouse for a quick overnight stay after landing at Bristol airport. We arrived very late and Sarah had kindly organised a code for our key and some written instructions to our room. The room is lovely, beds very comfortable and a fabulous English Breakfast the next morning. Hosts are lovely and really welcoming and a lot of thought has gone into making their guest's stay comfortable. Will definitely come back and recommend this little gem as a perfect place to stay. 

Lovely overnight stay!

We had the whole house for a family holiday. 

Good location near Cheddar, Wells, Weston-Super-Mare, Bristol 
Well cared for large garden with patio furniture, gazebo and lawn
Large television screen
Nice dining room
Two fridges and wine fridge
Good communication with owner
Problem with leaking toilet attended to quickly.

Kitchen, new appliances but limited worktop space.
Could have done with floor plan before arrival.
Lounge dominated by television when on. No alternate sitting area.  

Ground floor bedroom curtains did not fit the windows, room  smelled of diesel from boiler.
Most bedrooms affected by fairly constant road noise from A38.
Kitchen cupboards were very full and had limited space for storage for our food. 
Out of date food was in fridge 2019, 2020 even 2016!
Small freezer space for a large group.
No downstairs toilet

Family Holiday

Used this little Guest House as I was flying out of Bristol Airport early in the morning. Easy to find and then get to the airport. I had a twin room next to the shared bathroom. Very welcoming hosts and a lovely lounge.
