A lovely hotel in an excellent location, within easy walking distance of Torquay seafront and gardens. Lots of pubs and restaurants withing easy walking distance too. The room was small but roomy enough to be comfortable, immaculately clean and had nice thoughtful touches like fresh bottle of water, chocolate bars with the tea and coffee making stuff, nice shower gel and handwash. It was light and airy, and very pleasant to be in. We were at the front of the hotel, with a lovely view over the cricket ground. Breakfast was lovely, nothing was too much trouble. Starting with yogurt, honey and fresh fruit, then a range of cereal choices finishing with something cooked - choice examples included full English (sausage, bacon, eggs, beans, mushrooms), scrambled eggs and mushrooms, avocado, toast. Host Jessie was very very welcoming, she even sat with us on arrival for a cuppa in the living room after our long drive down. On our last day, we left before breakfast, so Jessie packed us up a travel bag of fresh fruit and chocolate bars! All in all, a really lovely stay. There was nothing major we didn't like. A niggle if the hotel is full could be the parking - there are 4 spaces marked out, but I'd say only 3 in reality due to the tight turning circle, which with 7 rooms could be tricky. However, on-street parking is plentiful. Apart from that, everything was as we hoped it would be.

We arrived at this B&B on 14th July. Jessie demanded payment before we entered. Despite there being a breakfast menu we were given a small full English. Jessie banged on our door at 9.50 shouting for us to leave. Terrible experience, never again.

We had a four night stay in September. Jess the owner was very helpful and the  breakfast was great plus there was plenty of extra tea and toast. Rooms were ok and the location was better than we'd expected.

The Daylesford Guest House

AVOID this b&b at all cost ! Arrived at  this establishment for a  pre booked 3 night stay As stated on website there was free parking I also called a week before to confirm this. I was told plenty of parking and  not to worry when I arrived and pulled onto the drive there was a total of 3 1/2  small spaces two which were taken so I assumed the rest were around the back of the building I rang the door bell and was met by Jessica  she informed me that we was in the car park ! No way could I have even got my car between the other 2 that were already parked there let alone open the door ! I explained this to her she then started shouting and getting very aggressive telling me to park up I had no option but to drive off  I was very upset as I had just driven 180 miles she then called me on my mobile and started ranting again telling me to come back obviously I didn’t and drove 180 miles back home . This establishment has 6 bedrooms and only 3 1/2 car park spaces how does that work ? Don’t be fooled what she tells you shes rude aggressive and just out to make money at any guests expense ! She refuses to give any compensation independently or through Booking.com and she hasn’t even had the courtesy to respond to my emails ! I wish I had read some of the awful reviews before I booked this b&b absolutely shocking STAY CLEAR!

I usually disregard a small number of bad reviews if the majority are overwhelmingly positive, but in this case, there is a consistent theme which is definitely correct. We paid a very high rate which we accept is due to late booking in a period of high demand. The room was clean and the bathroom was fine. Breakfast was pleasant but the fact that Jessie scrimped on everything doesn't look good. You get one piece of toast each with one piece of butter and a small pot of jam. One of ours had already been half used by someone else. You get one cup of team and a cafetierre with just enough coffee for one cup. The room smelt of damp and Jessie encouraged us to keep the windows open which can be cold even in August. The electrics are also pretty dodgy with the light fitting in our room making some alarming noises and not turning on and off reliably.

The Daylesford does not compare favourably with other B&Bs we have stayed at

I went to this guest house and it was great from the time l got there until l left. Jessie was so welcoming, if you needed anything she was happy to help. Breakfast was good.  The guest house is in right in the centre of where you want to get too. Wonderful stay, cannot wait to return.
