We were booked into this guesthouse through a cycle touring company and spent 3 nights here.  There's nothing bad to say about this place: it is really well located, the room was large and spacious, breakfast was plentiful and Sylvia is a wonderfully accommodating hostess.  Would recommend to anyone.

Excellent Location & Wonderful Hostess

6 nights , very clean room , warm, Paul was a nice guy.... nothing to say bad about this place apart from the front door who needs a little bit attention .... you have to push it strong to close it and it make noise especialy in the night for the guest on the rooms next to it 

Good room good prices 

Our SatNav had a challenge finding the place, but it's simple to find in daylight! 

The welcome was warm and friendly, our room comfortable and perfect for a two-day stay in the area.

"Full English Breakfast" was lovely, and both the coffee and tea strong and "proper."

Most of all: value. Considering the price, The Hollies was a fantastic value. If we have to attend an event at the NEC again, this is where we'll be staying.

A hidden delight... and close to NEC

I booked The Hollies Guesthouse through booking.com for 2 nights for me and my SO. It was the cheapest option within a nice short drive from the NEC. Paul rang us (whilst we were travelling up) to advise that the bulb was missing from his sign but for us to ring if we were likely to arrive in the dark so he could direct us. He was very welcoming and couldn't do enough to meet out needs. We were directed to our room (4) which contained tired furnishings but comfortable a double and single bed. It was tidy with a bit of dust. The bathroom was small but enough for our needs. The door to the shower took a bit of care to open and the toilet was noisy due to it being a saniflo one (we just didnt flush at night). We had an incident with the kettle which seemed to have been boiled dry at some point but as soon as it was brought to Paul's attention he apologised profusely for not checking and provided us a replacement. Towels were replenished, beds made and bins emptied whilst we were out.  Breakfast was lovely. The sausages were amazing. He catered for us splendidly and we were sufficiently fed before leaving for our day out.  Comfy rooms, lovely breakfast and a very welcoming owner. I would use The Hollies Guesthouse if I was to find my way up that way again.

Just right for the NEC

Came for three nights, and the price was the cheapest around!! Rooms lovely, warm and homely. The host Paul was welcoming and couldn’t be more helpful if needed! 
Breakfast in the morning was first class. Lots on the plate as well as a choice of cereal and orange juice as extra! 
Would definitley stay again if was up this way

Very welcoming host

Attentive staff, clean facility, dreadful wi-fi in the room, noisy bedroom, great shower. Breakfast was OK, but no Cappuccino, location in hindsight was too far from where I needed to go, so unless you have a car, it's a taxi to get there

2 Nights stay

Very robotic hotel, run by technology. When I required wifi code and room service was told by staff to download the app, which I was not prepared to do. Room service arrived in a paper bag and plastic cutlery. Very unprofessional.  Village Franchise not for me. 

Village Hotel not for me, I like the personal touch

I am sad to write this review as I have found the owner a very nice and attentive host but I was shocked how unloved his business is. I believe that you get what you pay for but I didn't expect that someone can just burry the head in the sand regarding things that could be easily fixed and let it get worse over time. A lot of lightbulbs are not working, wallpaper/plasterboard in some places were bowing because of damp, mould all over the windows which could easily be rectified by a professional (windows not closing properly allowing draft and noise), shower cubicle falling apart, extremely noisy plumbing and a very low level of cleanliness. It would be a nice place to stay if the house was renovated. Even If I do not pay a lot for a stay, I would expect a clean room that doesn't smell damp. Message for the cleaner if one exists: please give attention to detail. It was not pleasant to stay in our room. 
Regarding breakfast: very basic unfortunately. I am sorry but this is not a luxury guest house as advertised. If you need just one night stay and to be close to the airport plus you do not mind the above issues that is ok place to stay.

Unloved Guest House in a good location.

Do not stay in this guesthouse it is rank, the room was filthy dirty the towels smelt of grease and there was a slug on the floor in the room when I arrived. I was woken in the middle of the night by very loud scratching sounds, when I moved the wardrobe to see where the sounds were coming from I found a large hole in the wall measuring 30cms x 20 cms. I cannot believe there are not more bad reviews of this place it was the worse place I have ever stayed.
