We had a lovely meal for a last minute decision to head out on early on a Friday evening. Delicious fish and chips - crispy and crunchy batter and the fish was cooked perfectly. Friendly and welcoming. Thank you. 

Friday night fish & chips

We stayed overnight at the Golden Lion before attending a family birthday party in Rugby.  The hotel is in a pretty, rural village, with footpaths across fields if you want to go for a walk.  Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable, with an excellent bathroom.  Reception was friendly and helpful.  There was a pleasant seating area outside under a canopy (nice on a hot afternoon), and ample parking.

The dinner menu was fairly limited and we had a bit of a wait, but it was Saturday night;  breakfast was buffet style, which suited us.

We would certainly stay again if in the area.

Overnight stay in a nice location

Was well looked after, room was comfortable and quiet.  Food in the pub was great.  Staff couldn't have been more helpful.  Set in thr village of easenhall close to transport links but felt very rural.  Thanks for a good stay.

Lovely quiet hotel

We were here only for one night catching up with some friends who live locally. We had one of the 4 poster bedrooms but unfortunately, we didn't get to try out the fabulous looking jet bath in the bathroom. Caroline, the owner, was fabulous. Very friendly and professional. We had dinner in the restaurant the night of our stay and breakfast the morning after. The food was fantastic. Very tasty.

A lovely short stay!

We returned to the Golden Lion today almost 10 years after we held our wedding reception  there. We decided to sit outside under the canopy which was lovely and peacefull. The lady in the restaurant was really friendly. The food was delicious, the children's fish fingers were more like mini fish fillets, battered perfectly. The burgers were really tasty. 
Definitely recommend the Golden Lion if you want a quiet, relaxed place for lunch. The location is serene, there's plenty of parking at the top of the drive and the patio area is great for lunch. We won't leave it 10 years before we visit again!

Delicious food, great location, fab service

What super service and superb food - called in with my daughter and partner who were visiting from Bristol (they are used to City life and fine food) this did not disappoint - fast friendly service, food was hot and tasty, beef pie to die for (full of beef and excellent pastry) - fish and chips with the most delicious home made tarter sauce.  This is a well deserved review, go check it out, you wont be disappointed - Cath

Great Bank Holiday Monday find!

Came for a day-long meeting. I have a lot of food intolerances and Caroline, her team and the chefs were amazing at accommodating me. Felt very looked after. Food tasted incredible, and was served quickly.

Lovely relaxing environment

First rate food and tremendous service. We had a really enjoyable meal the homemade soup was really delicious and well made. I had the best steak pie I can remember, lovely pastry, wonderful flavoursome meat and really nice gravy. Staff very welcoming, friendly. Lovely old pub with real charm.

The Golden Lion stepped in at the 11th hour to accommodate the Riley Register AGM, the arrangements for which have been excellent.
We personally have also experienced their wonderful overnight hospitality preceded by a hearty and tasty dinner.
Tasty food (generous helpings) and comfortable, well-appointed room have made it a lovely stay.

Nothing has been too much trouble for the staff at this gem of a family-owned hotel.

Just dined here. Most bizarre experience ever. Very Fawlty Towers. 
Had to send back the £3.00 onion rings as they were more like fairground doughnuts than onion rings. 

Bizarrely they refused to remove the £3.00, insisting we paid at least £1.00 for them even though they were inedible. 

Sad to be that desperate for £1.00

Ignorant grey-haired/beared gentleman completely ignored the situation. 

As a result we left no tip and won't be returning. Great commercial decision by The Golden Lion 😂
