Nice area, nice hotel, clean, quiet; the owner was very friendly and informative, we have enjoyed the talk about the village and helpful advices for Bristol (which was beautiful btw). Breakfast was nice.

Really enjoyed my stay, would highly recommend 
the swan. room very clean, everything you need in the room. The whole place has a really nice atmosphere. Food in restaraunt was excellent. Good postion. Walk to nearby pub t hat was also nice. The staff where outstanding. Good value for the price. Thankyou for a enjoyable stay.

I stayed here for a night this week and thoroughly enjoyed it. Room was basic but clean and a nice comfy bed. Food in the restaurant was great. I went for the Hungarian Ghoulash which was lovely. Andrea who runs the place with her husband was very friendly and welcoming. If in the area, give this place a go. You won’t be disappointed.

A friend was getting married in Islip and the Swan popped up as showing availability for the  Saturday of the bank holiday weekend. On arrival the staff were ever so friendly and as I had arrived early we ended up chatting over a beer before I unloaded my car. After the beer, I was shown to my room which was exactly what I needed and a very competitive price compared to other accomodation, and I didn't have to book it out for the whole bank holiday weekend. Before I left for the church service the owners asked me what time I wanted my included fried breakfast the next morning.

Next day after a great sleep (and many a beer) the fry up hit the spot for me to then enjoy a slightly less hungover Sunday. Although the Swan has had a few bad reviews in the past, I did not have any trouble with my stay and the owners who have been running the pub for about 5 weeks now made me feel very welcome. Thanks!

This is a perfectly acceptable B&B, although as breakfast costs another £10 I never have it but take my own. Don't be put off by the dreary entrance and lock on entrance door as the rooms are clean and the en-suite bathrooms are also basic but very clean with nice fresh white towels, liquid soap and even little bottles of body cream,  They could do with giving shower hats but that is not an important detail as I always travel with my own.  The furniture is old but there is everything one might need and the beds are comfortable.  Ming, the owner/manager is a very nice gentleman.  This was my third visit and I shall return again in future.

Great stay over the Bank Holiday

One night only, this time

The bed was very comfortable, so a good night's sleep ensued - until we were rudely awakened at 6:00 a.m. by a loud radio - I think this was someone cleaning the bar area. Decor is tired and has no perceptible theme - desperately needs refreshing and updating. Food pleasing enough, though only two vegetarian options, one of which was unavailable. It really would help if the landlady smiled occasionally. My mother ran a guesthouse for over forty years and taught me that a warm welcome was the number one requirement in the hospitality industry. Every guest should feel special, which was certainly not the case at the Swan. Location is excellent and the price is reasonable at £65 per night. Personally though I'd have happily  paid a little more for a better holiday experience.

Disappointing

Arrived about 1600 and the building was all locked up - check in is advertised as 1700 to 2100. Someone arrived about 1640 and we checked in. Very courteous man showed us to our room (no:1) which was clean, comfortable and with a very powerful and hot shower. Tea, coffee and biscuits in the room whch was a nice touch but we could have done wih more milk. Came back after a meal up the road about 2100 and struggled to get in as key didn't appear to want to open the front door - however after 5 minutes trying the lock opened so breathed a sign of relief as no phone or number with us! Slept well and left around 0800 the next morning. Breakfast was available but sadly not early enough for us. Red Lion up the road offers a good evening meal so this place was OK for us for the one night.

Ok if you just want somewhere to sleep

I have a family funeral in Islip and have booked a 2 night stay at the Swan Inn. The rooms are extremely dated, unkempt and grubby. The curtains don't cover the windows, the bedside lampshade has holes, in the single beds were tiny. The bath had debris in it, and so did the hand basin, and the toilet had something murky in it clouding the water brown. It is now 2.38 am and up until 2.05 am an other guest has been storming the hallway, stairs ranting and swearing slamming his door constantly since 11.00 pm. I have felt very uncomfortable and not had any sleep. There is no bar, restaurant, and the entrance is totally unwelcoming. All this for £85.00 a night plus £10.00 for breakfast which I decided against as I saw the meat products defrosting in the unused bar fridge, so not fresh. I have now made other arrangements for my second night, the building and village are delightful, it's such a pity.
