Stayed here one night whilst daughter ran the GNR. Rooms basic isn’t had a musty smell. On first glance looks clean but when looking for a charging point it was noticed how bits had been missed out. Bathroom with a shower in, towels provided. Room warm with food smell from nearby restaurant when their extractor came on.  Tea & coffee making facilities in the lounge downstairs. Has a cafe attached but no options of non dairy milk provided. The owner was very nice & accommodating & for his service alone I would have given 5 stars but this place could definitely do with a revamp but I suppose you get what you pay for.

Basic

This is a well kept, clean budget hotel, we stayed here for 1 night. The gentleman at reception when we checked in was really nice, he let us check in early and showed us to our room, our room was on the small side, but had everything in including, microwave, kettle, sink and a bathroom. There is a little sitting room opposite reception that has tea and coffee facilities, sofas and a tv. The women on reception was lovely when we checked out, she offered to make us toast but we were going elsewhere for breakfast. Overall this is a small budget hotel but has fantastic facilities and lovely staff, we will be back again!

When we got there and were shown to our room the room was so very cold we had to ask for the heating on for 2 days this prompted them to come and check the room radiator on the second day . There was a constant raw sewage smell coming from the shower room every time we opened the door We arrived on the Fri till sun when we were leaving we stopped for breakfast in the cafe next door and that was really nice ..I started itching on my 2 hour journey home to be absolutely horrified to see when I got undressed that I had been  so badly bitten I went on the Monday to have these bites checked to be informed they were bed bug bites as they were only in areas of my body that were exposed my friends had a few bites each but as I react badly to bites mine had started to swell and itch they were on my arms,hands,face,and really bad on my feet . I took photos and sent them to the hotel to be told nobody else had ever complained suggesting I had been bitten else were ..I'm now on day 8 and they have started to heal but have left a few scars especially on my arms .. I have reported this to booking .com who had sent a complaint on my behalf to Bentley's Hotel But not even an apology absolutely disgusting

BED BUGS BITE

We stayed here for two nights, the early check in was appreciated and the chap who showed us to our room was very pleasant. The good bits ... very comfy bed and shower was good, with  plenty of hot water.  The shower room door could do with a handle as was easy to get stuck inside.. The not so good...  we were in room 13 top floor attic space, when we checked in there was a faint food smell, later in the evening this was much stronger and we suspect coming from the vent from the takeaway next door, the vent was lower than the bedroom windows so recommend closed windows, not so good in summer. Rooms do not have tea or coffee facilities, but the hotel provides free coffee tea etc from a small kitchen area on the first floor, there was very little coffee, no tea or sugar or fresh milk so u had to go down to the ground floor to get this and not so easy navigating two flights of stairs and heavy doors with full hot cups, apart from this the hotel was ok, although  the area round about  was quite run down , lots of litter..it's also a long uphill walk from the city.. the hotel staff  were also very nice

Very basic

I can’t recommend Bentley’s enough! Super affordable, but doesn’t scrimp on the comfort or security. A short 20 minute walk from the train station, so you don’t need to compromise on price for location. Peter, our host, was exceptional!! Would recommend for anyone looking for a budget but QUALITY option while staying in Newcastle.

Amazing weekend!!

Booked quite late and arrived quite late. Not an issue, man working was very friendly and welcoming showing us all needed. Basic BnB but cant complain, excellent small rooms for a quick stay nice and clean. Would stay again! 

Overnight Stay

Stayed here for  one night. Nice staff, clean and tidy, and very helpful,good breakfast and the cafe was also very good,I would definitely recommend this hotel,and would stay here again,thank you all so much,Jimmy,Natalie and Lucas,room 8,

Good stay,

Stayed here for the GNR weekend and the hotel certainly did the job.
Reasonably priced when all other hotels in the area were charging extortionate amounts for the GNR weekend.
Room was clean and tidy with a decent breakfast provided in the morning. 
My room was not en-suite but the shared showers available were clean and warm.
The area in general around the hotel is a little bit grubby and there’s not much going on but it was an ideal spot to get to the race start line in the morning, just a 10 minute stroll.
Did go into the city centre which was about a 5 minute cab ride away or a 25 minute walk. 

Clean tidy budget option

Glenn an his team run a cracking little place.good value for money.Nice brekkie.parking ok.GOOD for walk to start line.30mins or going to st james.Clean an tidy.room 7 needs a new mattress an the toilet cistern replacing.Thats my only complaint.Nice hot shower.Its a gem.Good work guys an thankyou Rick & Zena an Hardy

Great north run 2018

Selected for the small car park in front of the hotel (additional street parking alongside) and was delighted to find welcoming owner Glen and a lovely clean, spacious twin room which appeared freshly decorated. Lovely shower in compact adjacent bathroom. Nowhere to hang towels (hooks on back of bathroom door would be ideal) so left them on radiators - were not changed during our 4 night stay. Could hear people coming and going outside door - room door would move when fire doors in corridor opened - perhaps better sealant would help? 
Breakfast available in adjoining coffee shop - felt unwelcome there, man and woman who served made no attempt to smile or engage, had to ask for napkins as kept behind till - it was self service for cereals, cutlery, jam so puzzling that napkin holder not left out too. I'm vegan and all that was available was toast and jam. No fresh fruit. Just a range of eggs/sausages and bacon. If the couple had been more engaging (like Glen) I would have offered to buy some stuff which they could keep in fridge for me but with their manner I didn't feel inclined to try - such a shame as room so lovely.
