The Culbone

Wonderful stay at The Culbone Stables Inn. The room was lovely, decor delightful. The staff were all fantastic supported by Benny the dog. Highly recommend the taster menu. Merrick is an amazing chef.

I highly recommend this establishment. 
The service was excellent - a lovely warm welcome. The food was absolutely delicious. The chef is very talented. 
We did not wait long for our meal & we also liked the ambience and decor of this place.

We booked a table for Sunday lunch, as we were travelling down to Lynmouth from Cambridgeshire, and this was the first weekend that the Culbone was open to the public, and as we had past the place on numerous occasions over the years, always commenting what a lovely place it looks, we decided to give it a try.
We are so glad we did. What a fantastic place, beautifully decorated, a very relaxing and calm atmosphere, and set out with wonderful views looking over the countryside.
We had 2 Sunday lunches, one pork and one beef, both of which were cooked to perfection, the deserts were also just as good.
Very friendly owners, and nothing was too much trouble. It was a delight to visit.
We  travel down to Lynmouth several times throughout the year, and we will definately be including a visit to The Culbone when we do.
A real Gem.

Modern,  clean, comfortable room with king sized bed, great food in restaurant, book a table well in advance as it is  very popular, cozy bar and restaurant with relaxing atmosphere, great location with views, very friendly staff. All in all 10/10..

Lovely place with super friendly staff and fab Sunday lunch, we could not fault it, it was lovely our dogs were made welcome to, sad it will only be open to residents for Sunday lunch during the shooting season.

We booked the restaurant for the tasting menu on Friday night having been recommended by the owners of the accommodation we were staying at just outside Porlock. We were not disappointed. It was excellent in every respect. 

The tasting menu consisted of 6 courses (plus an optional cheese board as well if you could manage). The courses were a thoughtful mixture of seafood ,  vegetarian and meats . Each was very good in its own right but  they  also complimented each other very well. The seared rabbit loin with chorizo was a particular highlight and the flavours amazing. No wine pairing available but we enjoyed the wines on offer and felt they were reasonably priced.

The atmosphere in the restaurant was nice and relaxed . The new extension has added a lot of light and the place felt airy. The staff were very helpful. Overall a brilliant experience and one we hope to repeat the next time we are in the area.

Booked for one night stay and what a beautiful place.  Room was lovely.  Service was excellent.  Had the 6 course taster menu which was stunninly presented and all the courses were a delight to taste.  Location of the property is so peaceful.  Will definately return.

Last evening 5 of us went to the Culbone Stables Inn for supper to celebrate 3 birthdays and 2 wedding anniversaries.  Apart from being lucky enough to be put on a table with the most stunning views over Exmoor, the food was probably among the best i've ever tasted.  The menu was a 6 course taster menu which was just sublime.  From locally sourced Porlock Oysters to start to freshly caught mackerel and so much more.  The food was not only quite beautifully presented and served - but each mouthful was just delicious.  The service was also first class, Hannah and the team really looked after us well and it was so nice that Merrick the Chef also served some of the course at the table giving us the opportunity to meet him and to talk about the food (and to be able to thank him).
It really was a memorable and special evening and i cant thank the whole team enough.  It was my husbands first foray out since Covid began and we could not have chosen a better  venue for that milestone event.

A wet evening didn't detract in any way from an amazing evening from start to finish. The front of house, Hannah, couldn't have been more welcoming, and the newly renovated interior with views over Exmoor set the scene for an amazing 6 course taster menu followed by a cheese board to fill any last bit of space.   All dietary requests were well catered for. This is top class cooking by any global standard and worth making the trip for. A chef to watch. A really comfortable stay too and good quality no fuss breakfast to set us on our way. Many thanks.
