Hotel and pub are lovely but we were woken at 7.45am on Sunday morning by scaffolding being taken down. No apology or compensation offered and this level of noise outside a hotel in the morning is totally unacceptable

No sleep!

Lovely hotel, staff were friendly and helpfu. Had an excellent evening meal. Parking for about 8 cars in the courtyard but there was room for on the road parking outside.The room was comfortable and had all the essentials needed to keep us and our Lurcher happy.One gripe the football was on and finished late, that's fine but a group of customers came and sat out in the smoking area, well away from the pub but outside all the rooms. This was 1am and they shouted, screamed and laughed. I don't mind but we had driven miles and were knackered, couldn't sleep making driving the next day difficult. Needs signage displayed asking people to respect those staying in the rooms. The smoking area needs to be blocked off after 11pm. It did kinda of spoil a very nice hotel stay!

Noisy Stay

Good clean hotel rooms above pub. No food service was available, and room was what we expected as we had lived an traveled in in previously, so rating reflects that, not everyone would agree though

A very friendly hotel, with lovely food, in a delightful town.

We stayed here overnight before my son's Dyson assessment day.  What a great choice!! From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed and comfortable.  The staff were efficient and super friendly.  The room was characterful and quiet.  The beds are comfortable.  The shower was just right.  We overlooked the back - the stable rooms and the fields beyond.  We arrived too late for dinner, so we popped down the road, and there is a bakery almost next door plus a cafe a tiny bit further for a yummy breakfast. There is free parking at the back through a quaint arch.  I was glad my car was small, but there were large cars, so must be possible for larger vehicles. I would recommend this as a place to stay.  I wish we were staying longer. Very relaxing.

Really lovely place to stay

I stayed in the stable rooms at the back of the hotel. They were clean, warm and the shower was great.
The staff were so helpful and kind, and I managed to book very last minute. Fantastic would go back and recommend if in the area again.

We stayed overnight in the outside rooms.  These are spacious and clean and good for a dog.  The car park is spacious but the entrance is narrow though the yard.  We ate in the pub.  The staff were very helpful and friendly and the food was OK.  They were busy on a Sat night so food took a while to come.  I’d recommend booking.  They don’t do breakfast but the Summer Cafe up the road is great.  The breakfasts and ambience are lovely.  Go early as it’s popular.

Good overnight stop

Bursting with character in this fantastic town centre location. Lovely staff and extremely friendly and helpful manager. Extremely clean and very well decorated with a beer garden that has an awesome view. Be ready for the turn in to the car park. It looks very narrow compared with what most of us are used to but actually is very doable, there were some quite big cars in the car park! Even though we were there on a very busy Friday night we couldn't hear a thing in our room and slept very well and the extremely comfortable bed. The food was good too!
