Rude hosts without an ounce of customer service. Added a string of additional costs a few days before the event holding us over a barrel then added futher costs after. Talked down to our guests, family and suppliers. Changed plans affecting the day without communicating effectively. They have an aggressive communication style both in person and over email. It's a nice venue sadly let down by the owners. They are selling up and therefore didn't obviously care about making our wedding special.dispitr this our other suppliers made the day great we would however not book this venue again and would warn others.

Very rude and threatening hosts

We had our wedding here the weekend just gone.
It was everything and more than we thought it would be.
Great bar prices, immaculate b&b rooms, staff all really friendly an all round pleasurable experience.

Great venue

We stayed at this campsite as guests at a wedding, held in the barn attached to the site,  for 2 nights. On th e company's website the experience was billed as 'glamping' with memory foam mattresses and that guest need only ring their clothes. The tent - was indeed large and perfectly put up. But - the mattresses were simply 2 thin camping mattresses on top of each other under s fairly grubby cotton cover, along with some equally grubby cushions. The 'low table' was little more than a tray on little legs - all made of chipboard and there was a single dim lantern. Any way in which this could be construed as glamorous is a mystery, We had to bring our own bedding - apparently because of covid. Yet covid restrictions are no longer in place. Given that we had paid £220 for this, it felt like a complete and utter rip-off. I have camped in many places before - and I think that this would be better if you had taken all your usual camping gear with you - rather than think you didn't need it. We certainly needed blankets and thermals - in May - it was so cold, The fire pits remained unlit, the showers were a mere dribble - although the water when there was any was hot. I could forgive all of this - and indeed forget it - had it not been for the awful attitude of the owner of the site. She was just so rude - condescending and unpleasant, particularly to the well-behaved and intelligent children at the wedding. The food that the children were provided with was very poor - but worse than that was the way the owner talked down to the children and told them off - for standing in particular spot or whatever - at the wedding ceremony. She was also rude and unhelpful when one of the children needed help as she suffered from type 1 diabetes and was becoming hypoglycaemic. Our hostess  - Fiona -  did not want to know about helping  find food or drink for this child and their mum had to beg for help from other members of staff  - who were then glad to help. It seems that this lady does not like children - or indeed adult on her campsite - maybe she should think of a different way of earning a living? Seriously - kindness costs nothing - and all the shortcomings and rip off feelings of the weekend could have been mitigated by a warm welcome. Instead - there are signs plastered everywhere telling you what you can't do.  Every tiny thing costs extra - even the table football table costs you 50 p to play on it. The place is tacky and cheapskate. If you are invited to a wedding there - rather than cope with the unpleasantness, I'd suggest you go to one of the B&B's nearby. Much cheaper, and I suspect you would be made to feel far more welcome than at Gwaenynog

Being kind, courteous  and pleasant doesn't cost anything

Gwaenynog was the perfect wedding venue for my wife and I. When Covid restrictions prevented our original 2020 date from going ahead, Fiona & Norman were incredibly accommodating in helping us rearrange our ‘festival wedding’ to the following year. 

The ‘DIY’ aspect of this venue suited us well, as both sides of our family arrived on site a few days early to decorate the barn. They have various decorations donated from previous weddings which came in handy, and a photo album for inspiration. We were also able to choose a caterer & hired furniture/tipis to suit our needs/budget, but took advantage of Gwaenynog’s catering for the camper’s breakfasts and dinner on the Friday night. It really felt like our own space, on our own schedule which we may not have had at a more conventional venue. Many of our guests asked us how we found this gem of a campsite.

A few of the lovely things Fiona & Norman did for us to ensure we had a perfect wedding:
•	Put up with my wife and I changing our plans a thousand times in the leadup to the wedding in order to keep up with ever changing government Covid restrictions
•	Erected a large gazebo on the back of the barn to give us an outdoor dance floor (to comply with restrictions)
•	Sorted out replacement meals at the last minute for our guests on the Friday night when their catering supplier missed a delivery, all without my wife finding out until resolved to keep her worry-free (I know how stressful this must have been for Fiona, and really appreciate it).
•	Replaced my laptop with theirs when it wouldn't work (saving us just before the evening entertainment)

If you’re looking to hold a large wedding that won’t break the bank, and have some friends / family who’ll help you set it up & pack away, Gwaenynog’s for you. You won’t find a more beautiful setting, and we’ll always appreciate the weekend Fiona & Norman provided  us. Looking forward to going back with a tent soon and reminiscing.

Perfect 'DIY' Wedding Venue

Gwaenynog has a four rooms available for bed and breakfast. Our room ("Heron") was very good with an en-suite toilet and shower. The room was nicely big enough - of a  size as would be expected in a building of this type. It was very clean, well equipped and the bed comfortable. There is a very pleasant lounge/dining room for guests and the numerous birds on the feeders just outside the window was an enjoyable attraction. 

The food was excellent. We had one evening meal - the roast on the Sunday which was superb. Our breakfasts were similarly very nicely cooked with plenty of options. We were made very welcome and Fiona  gave us some useful tips for our planned visit to nearby Lake Vyrnwy which contributed to a very enjoyable day there. 

This is a great place to stay in a quiet location surrounded by lovely countryside.

A Lovely Place to Stay with Great Food

Bike stop over

Stayed for a few nights camping with friends. The campsite had perfect facilities in abundance. Norman and Fiona have thought of everything and were wonderful hosts. Well worth a visit to this beautiful place in the countryside. We’ll be back!

Great Campsite facilities

Fiona and Norman were great hosts and really looked after our walking group. They cooked us lovely meals, which were great value, all in a beautiful location with good facilities.
Some of our group stayed in the Farmhouse B&B, the rooms were very comfortable and well appointed with great breakfasts.
We cannot recommend Gwaenynog Farmhouse highly enough.

We would give 6 stars if we could. Gwaenynog was truly wonderful. A real haven in the middle of the most beautiful countryside. 
The facilities are clean and modern, the site is not too big, and the bar with meals is a total bonus! 

A wonderful find!

This was our second time visiting this beautiful campsite, with our two girls. We had a great week, and nothing is ever too much trouble for the lovely owners. The facilities are super clean, and The Dutch Barn is great if you want a break from cooking or if you fancy some drinks. For the colder evenings, we hired fire pits which were perfect to sit around and keep warm. Highly recommended!
