A lovely short break in a traditional seaside guest house. 

The rooms were small, but clean and the hosts were very friendly. 

An excellent location, near to shops, beach and harbour. 

We were on the top floor, so the steps helped burn off all the food.

Clean Room, albeit a little snug with the 4 poster bed and the bathroom was tiny but manageable for us, the shower was good but on the small side , clean everywhere and books, DVD's etc to Loan

Good, clean, comfortable stay

We stayed for 3 nights here at Acorn Lodge. Brilliant location. Very close to both the beach and the harbour. Family friendly. Family run B&B - Andy, Karen, Baz and Michelle were very welcoming and helpful. Thank you all for a lovely stay. :)

Amazing location and family friendly

It's with a heavy heart that I can only give it a 1 and would give it a 0 if I could but our experience warrants that.
Staff was very friendly and was very good to my wife, my 21 month old daughter and myself and we honestly didn't have an issue until we left
The was a mistake when we was charged twice and was rectified very quickly by giving us cash back. However my wife and I very rarely carry cash especially during these times.
About 1 hour after we checked out my wife realised that we had left the money in the draw (which is silly to put it there on our behalf but not the point) so I immediately rang the manager Andy and was confident the money would still be there as the next guest hadn't checked in yet. The only person or persons would have been cleaning.
After checking I was told that it wasn't there. I said that it must be because that is where we had left it. Upon checking again it became apparent that its been taken. I asked who had access to the room in the time we had gone and he told me the cleaner but she's as honest as they come and he trust her, which means only one thing that I'm lying. I asked what I could do but he wasn't willing to help and I advised that I rang the police and was told if that's what I need to do.
With no evidence and its my word against them I know that the police cant do anything so what's the point.
I just want that person to know that you have got anyway with it. Well done. There isn't a thing I can do because I'm fully aware of the justice system to people that do bad things. Now my wife and I have to work extra this month in order to support our family needs as £100 is a lot of money. Had the error not been made in the first place on arrival there would have never been an issue unless the is people going in while were out of the room.
So sad that a 2 day stay ended like this

Great trip for friends wedding disappointing ending

We enjoyed our stay at Acorn Lodge. The hosts are very welcoming and the Full-English Breakfast, included in the price, is a big plus. We were in a "snug" double (room 5) at the top of the house and, yes, it was very small but had almost everything you need to make a stay very comfortable. The "almost" (and the reason for dropping a rating) was the non-existent Wi-Fi reception in that room (unless you are huddled up against the door). A pity because otherwise it would have been very good.

Had a lovely stay here. Room very clean and comfortable and nice and warm on the days when it wasn't so warm outside(I have stayed in places where hosts are very anti putting the heating on).
Perfect hosts Andy, Karen and Baz, Baz very kindly carried our bags upstairs on arrival
Breakfast lovely and cooked to how we wanted it.
Good central location, the only drawback to this place would be the stairs, so if you struggle with those this place would not be for you,  but otherwise would definately recommend and would definately stay again.

Lovely little guest house.

Hosts very welcoming room ok needs a little touch up food breakfast could do with the products being better sausage being a butcher sausage baked beans being a brand but it was a nice place to say thank you Andy 

Weeks stay

Had a chilled time at Acorn Lodge.  Fantastic location, great sleep,wonderful hospitality with Andy and Karen, and a lovely English breakfast to start the day.  It will definitely be our go to place when we go back to Ilfracombe.

WOW loved it

On arrival we had a very nice greeting and Baz was on had to help with our luggage, we have a baby under 1 so we had a few things to carry. 

Although there is no on-site parking like a lot of the places in Ilfracombe there is a very cheap overnight car park within a two minute walk about £4.50 for 24hrs. 

This lovely family ran place could not do enough to ensure we enjoyed our stay, the breakfast was perfect, it set you up for the day a good, few options to choose from and high chair available for the little one. Due to COVID the breakfast times were staggered to ensure good distance between tables and minimise numbers to keep guests safe.

Reading other reviews I was under the impression this room was very small, I can tell you we had room for a travel cot, buggy and the rest of our belongings with room to spare. The room was very clean and tidy and had plenty of hand sanitiser and soap. 

With having a young baby during these times, Andy, Karen and Baz made us feel at ease and safe throughout our stay. They are all very knowledgeable of the local area which we found very helpful. 

We will defiantly be returning!
