I chose to go to the Rose and Crown for a lunchtime meet up for my father in law's birthday. I knew that the pub was spacious and that they were taking all necessary Covid precautions.
There was a good varied menu and interesting Thai specials. The landlady took us through the menu, explaining that everything is cooked fresh.
I chose pizza and I was asked to choose my toppings. Others has the home made lasgane and the scampi.
For dessert my mother in law chose the home made coconut ice cream. My hubby chose the sticky toffee pudding....I tried some and it tasted amazing.
The pub had enough people in it to give a good atmosphere but still felt very safe.

Smashing lunch

Found this pub by chance as it didn’t appear in any local searches.
Not a great 1st impression from the outside but don’t let this put you off. 
A lovely home cooked meal, the locals and staff were friendly and the land lady could not do enough for us, highly recommended! 

Great find!

Came across this delightful pub whilst investigating Ledbury and the surrounding area and decided to stop for lunch. Staff very warm and welcoming, all food is homemade and freshly cooked. Had a super lunch. Would definitely return. 

LOVELY LUNCH IN A COUNTRY PUB

We arrived at 11.55, just as they were opening. Welcomed warmly, very friendly. Waited patiently, as we were early. Really lovely lady Roz, beautiful place inside and out! Sooooo accommodating for humans and pooches! Great space for getting together with friends, looks to be fantastic food, but on this occasion we just wanted a pint.
Please visit this beautiful place, it's truly a gem! For your dog to be allowed off the lead, safely in the garden is so important to us and really quite unusual so, thank you so much!! We'll definitely be back. Thanks for my piece of wood too!! Xx

Drive by visit

Staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Ordered Pizza, slight problem with the sauce (they had ran out) but they were very apologetic with it. When the Pizza came out it was very nice along with the chips.

Arrived in the area for a staycation - made welcome. The food was freshly cooked and everyone pleased with their choices ! Eating out on a Sunday evening is not easy in this area so you need to research and book ahead !

Made v welcome - good food !

Visited 2 weeks ago - husband had the beef lasagne and I had veggie lasagne. It was ok but neither fully heated/ hot enough really -  needed seasoning in cooking process, but ate it anyway as en route somewhere. Husband’s lasagne advertised with coleslaw but none on plate. He could not  be bothered to leave the table/ get up to ask after he realised - expect the cook / staff to notice and have awareness of this if delivering such daily.

Early evening visit

A coach load of us off to the races stopped on route, for a drink. We were welcomed by very friendly staff . As we had arranged to dine there later that day, the landlady took our pre-order and provided a few suggestions where we would like to eat.(in the bar or all together in the function room).
On arriving back to The Rose and Crown we were given a lovely welcome , shown where we were dining. Food promptly served for over 24 people, as we had a limited time scale. Service was excellent along with the food. Everything was served hot and looked delicious.The staff were very friendly. I would recommend the Chicken Pizza, best I’ve had in a long time.  
The facilities were very clean and the place had a fresher look and a new bar area put in since our last visit. 
All the best to The Rose and Crown for the future.
Definitely worth a stop.

Cheltenham races refuel stop

Food was basic and very expensive for what is served. Question how much of the food is catering / wholesale which is just reheated. Such a shame, as pub is in a good location but the food is just not up to standard. Plates are too small. Place was lacking in atmosphere.

Not Good

Visited here on a return trip to Hereford. It was a dark rainy evening but this establishment appeared very inviting from the road.
On walking in a number of locals with children and dogs were sat around the bar chatting. Feeling welcome but a number of people behind the bar and in front caused some confusion to who was actually working there.
No body in the establishment was eating but shown to a table and given menus. We ordered one fish & chips and one crown grill. Disappointment was my first reaction as the fish appeared to be 'Young's Gastro fish' from a supermarket box with frozen peas and oven chips which would have cost no more than £5. The waitress then apologized for the sausage missing from the grill. Starving after not eating all day we consumed the meal with out complaining. Then the landlady appeared with apologies for leaving the black pudding under the grill in the kitchen. So knocking £1 off the £25 bill.
Food was 'OK' but expensive for what appeared basic which could have been cooked at home much cheaper.
The landlady made a joke of being very persistent to purchase a sweet at £4.95 each. We left this to purchase one from Aldi on the way back to Hereford.

Maybe this was a night when the chef was away as other customers appear to give good reviews of the food but sadly I will not be returning.
