Me and my business partner were in Bristol for an important meeting on Thursday morning so we decided to travel the previous day and stay overnight, We had a lot of difficulty finding rooms available but eventually discovered this guest house. We arrived to a nice welcome at around 10pm and after a bit of a long drawn out introduction and sorting out breakfast options, we eventually were given the keys to our rooms. We had given our breakfast requirements and asking to be able to have breakfast at around 8am (which was an additional £6 each).

My room (6) was a basic double which was more than adequate for my needs but i thought it was a tad small for a double. However the bed was comfortable with a firm mattress, plenty of wardrobe space, good tea making facilities, clean, modern bathroom with heated towel rail (although the toilet roll holder was insecure). 

All good then until we came down at 8.05am for breakfast only to find the dining room locked! After knocking a few times a male member of staff opened the door with a bemused expression on his face so clearly wasn't expecting us!  There was no milk available for cereals so we skipped that and when my colleague asked for orange juice, there was none of that either! Breakfast was ok though especially at £6.

Whole experience was let down by the breakfast experience but other than that it was an adequate stay.

Overnight Stay

Ended up staying ere got let down by another b&b 5 minutes from the Filton spoke with the proprietor on the phone I said have you got a room for a few nights she said yes so met her in the reception area first impression clean hotel with a good size breakfast room but to expensive for single occupancy £75 a night and the hotel is a good 5 miles into Bristol city centre the hotel is in a area called Filton on a big road called Gloucester road the road itself must be 3 mile long I don't drive a car so had to take the number 75 or 74 bus into the city pain every morning the rooms are okay pillows were hard as other reviewers have mentioned wouldn't stay again only because of the location of the hotel a lot of messing about getting into Bristol city centre.

Average to far out from the city 

Just an overnight stay seeing friends and family locally. Its a B&B not a 5 star hotel which some folk seem to forget. Plentiful parking at the rear, then enter your reg number on the tablet as you go in. Location is great to get anywhere by foot, bus or car. Room was clean and perfectly adequate. Slept well with no noise or disturbances, breakfast was standard fare. Full English with toast, fruit juice & cereals etc. Paid cash as requested, must be struggle for a family business getting ripped for bank charges while trying to keep prices down. Would certainly stay again.

Perfectly functional B&B - well located

We stayed in the family room and it was nice and clean. They supplied us with everything we needed and it was covid safe. Breakfast was really nice as well. We will be staying there again.

Good people, amazing stay

From start to finish the service was excellent. Our welcome was so friendly. The room and ensuite was spotless.
Our breakfast was superb.  The choice available was very good.
It was not a problem paying cash.

Lovely Welcome

I thought this place was good value for money. Okay, so they want cash up front, but to get a cheaper deal than Booking.com, who cares? There was plenty of parking & I was given the parking lot post code for my sat nav over the phone. I had room 10 upstairs. The room was small, but clean with plenty of light. The shower was clean & hot enough. Breakfast was cereal with a full English and fruit juice. My only criticism would be the lack of a lift.

On the way down to Cornwall I stayed at a Travel Lodge in Gloucester which was cold, unfriendly & twice the price.

Stopover on the way back from Cornwall

Took my credit details by telephone then said that I would have to turn up with £220 cash when I arrived for the stay at the guesthouse. I stated that I would prefer to pay by card to then be told that they would pass on the credit card charge to me, despite this now being illegal in UK. All seemed very dodgy to me so I decided to book elsewhere.

Questionable financial practices

Greeted by woman with babe in arms, told it was cash payment, said did not have £83 cash on me , go to cash point up the road, really !! so had to drag my case up the road, no offer to leave my case !
room was in need of a good dust, the curtains

do not go there !

Stayed here in Feb 19, room was clean and well looked after, quiet and fine for what I  wanted. Host stayed up specially to book me in after some travel problems, nothing seemed too much trouble. Breakfast great, good experience all round

Night at Filton

We have stayed at Filton Guest House twice and would certainly stay there again. On the second occasion the couple who were with us required a downstairs room and this was not a problem. Rooms were immaculate as were the bathrooms. Ample parking at rear. Good breakfast - whether full English or continental. Very helpful staff.
