I have used Cheltenham Lodge on my previous visits to Chester and will be staying there again in April. It's easy to find, handy for the station, and close enough to walk into the centre if you have the time on a nice day. The single room I usually use is clean and tidy and the breakfast options are good - I heartily recommend the scrambled eggs! Proprietor David is always cheerful and helpful too.

Great place for a short getaway

Easy to find, about a fifteen minute walk from the city walls.  Lovely warm,spacious room with a modern en-suite, both spotless.  Breakfast cooked to order and had lots of tips of where to go and what to do from David and Ann.  About five minutes walk to the local shops where there are a number of places to eat and drink in the evening.  I would recommend for anyone who fancies a couple of days in Chester, and I'm assured the train journey into Liverpool are fast and frequent if you want to explore further afield without taking the car.

Clean, friendly, comfortable

Fairly easy to find on outskirts of Chester city. Clean comfortable room, bus stops nearby for 5-minute ride into the bus station. less than 10 minutes walk to find an assortment of eating places. Old world charm in presentation of the premises, with a comfortable dining room and a lovely breakfast. Limited parking off-road.

Overnight stay.

Nice rooms with plenty of space,we were in room 5 overlooking the front of the hotel, the breakfast had a good and varied choice, Dave himself served and nothing was too much trouble for him.The hotel is not to far from the centre of town, £1.20 on the bus which stops almost opposite the hotel or £3.70 for a taxi. A very good place to stay.

nice place to stay

Just got back from two night stay with David and Ann at Cheltenham Lodge.  Very convenient location about a mile from city centre with easy walk in.  Very friendly and helpful hosts.  Room 5 overlooks front of house and is a large airy room with lovely comfy bed, more than ample storage and large modern en suite.  Breakfast is freshly cooked and together with toast, cereals, juice and tea/coffee is more than enough to keep you fed all day.  Woukd not hesitate to recommend and would most certainly stay again when visiting Chester.
