I stayed here while hiking 3 days of the SW coastal path. Great location close to the coastal path, beach and pretty town of Bude but in a nice quiet street. Friendly hosts. I stayed off season so no other guests but made welcome. Cosy homely feel, Great facilities. Even a hot bath to ease aches after tough walk! Definitely recommend this place.

Perfect place to chill out after a tough walk

Came here with my local walking group for the post Christmas / New Year period.

Sean and Janine are excellent hosts and we all had a very enjoyable stay, highly recommended, hope to be back again soon.

Very enjoyable stay

Sean and Janine were really lovely and welcoming. The bed I had was super comfy, there were lots of mirrors about, both full length and smaller ones which you don't often get in hostels. I loved the brightly coloured doors to each room. The living room makes you feel like you're at home, and they have lots of board games to play. Bert the octopus painted on the living room wall is a cute addition. The hostel is nice and close to the beach and town, just a short walk away. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils. I would definitely come back again.

Comfy bed and homely atmosphere

Had a wonderful stay here from the 1st of August to the morning of the 7th .lovely clean comfortable rooms a communal tv lounge, kitchen and dining room all clean and tidy.  thanks to sean the owner and his partner for a brilliant stay I'll definitely be returning here soon .Richard

A fantastic place with great people

Stayed here for a week in the end of July, what can I say, the house is big and beautiful, Sean and Janine (the hosts) are very friendly grounded people with a lot of travel under their belts, and it reflects in the hostel, come and stay here.

Unique hostel-- more like home

I have just stayed at the backpackers with 29 members of a MeetUp Gp. The facilities were more than adequate for our needs. The group hired the whole house and we found it very comfortable. The living area was cosy, the kitchen and dining area would have fitted us perfectly, if it were another occasion. A great selection of bedrooms and bathrooms. I should point out that this was my first time with this specific walking group. The following statement is absolutely nothing to do with the Hostel! It is my sole opinion regarding the MeetUp group. I was appalled be the lack of cleanliness and consideration shown by these people... Unwelcoming and organiser, volatile.... Doors were banging all through the day and night, kitchen was left dirty throughout the stay, personal items were taken from the fridge, toilets were not cleaned after use..... I could go on. Once again this is NO reflection on the Hostel whatsoever.... This is purely due to the MeetUp group whom members cannot complain about, as the administrator/organiser would not take responsibility for anything that happened. In one case he was actually the instigator. I would finally like to state that I have spoken to the owners, who are also appalled by the state the hostel was in (same day we left -early) I have reiterated that we have travelled the world, stayed in many hostels and met some wonderful people on our travels. I would recommend this Hostel and I WILL be booking again. I will not however, be joining this particular group again. 


Meetup Walking Gp

Stayed here for 4 nights taking buses out to do coast walking. Very impressed with the spacious and clean nature of this place - nothing like the 'hostels' I remembered in my youth. A much better option than B and Bs - cheaper, more spacious and excellent kitchen facilities

Ideal for a Few Days Walking or Chilling

I have just stayed at the backpackers with 24 members of my family and what am amazing time we had.  The facilities were more than adequate for our needs.  We hired the whole house and found it very comfortable.  The living area was cosy in the evening and the kitchen and dining area fitted us perfectly.  A great selection of bedrooms and bathrooms.
