Lady at reception was lovely very chatty and made us feel very welcome. The room was very clean, organised and had everything we needed to accommodate us for our stay. Situated in a very good area with easy access to shopping centres and German market. Defo would recomend and will be staying here again. Thank you for the great stay!

Amazing

Just came back from a 6 nights stay at the apartment.  We got the penthouse which is on the 5th floor.  Room is spacious, checking was a breeze if you check in during the time someone is there.  The gentleman who checked us in was very nice and pleasant.  

Pros: location is great.  Right across from the entrance to the New Street train station.  Plenty of restaurants and bar within 10 mins walking.

Cons: The lights from the station is very bright since the windows are right across from it.  The apartment is possibly HAUNTED.  I don't know if anybody experienced the same thing from staying here but all 6 nights from 2am until 5am, all we heard were door knob rattling and scratching on the wall.  Nothing malicious happened, just very annoying when you try to sleep.  My friend and I didn't mind but just be aware of the noise.  No neighbors next door and there was no way someone can jiggle the door knobs. Be aware if you do get this room.  For that I don't know if I would recommend the apartment.

Great location, spacious room...possibly haunted

I stayed here for two nights during a business trip. The WiFi was not working during my stay (and when I enquired I was told that somebody had cut the cable, no apology or offer of compensation given that I needed internet access to be able to work). The property could have informed me of this issue before arrival and then at least I would have had the opportunity to make alternative arrangements.

The television signal kept cutting out, the room was shabby and uninviting (I think they use photos of the penthouse which looks very slick to draw you in and my room was nowhere near the same standard). 

The room was facing a giant digital board board which flashed lights through the blinds until the early hours of the morning and I had a terrible nights sleep. This could easily be fixed with blackout blinds/thick curtains.

The landing light on the first floor was also broken.

The only good things I have to say is that it is conveniently located by the station and the room was clean. However, these factors aren't enough to make me want to stay here again or recommend to others.

Didn't meet expectations

Cheaply furnished, weak shower attachment over the bath, broken loo seat but the big issues were no WiFi for the 2 nights I was there (& a blunt text message response to my question about this) & the cheap blind did nothing to block out the flashing ad hoarding outside the window. Until mid-night, then starting again at 6am the room was migraine inducing. 
Passive aggressive a4 signs everywhere too telling you 'the rules'! 

  Plenty of better options in Birmingham

No WiFi, no sleep

I decided to stay at “our city apartment Shaftesbury house” in Birmingham for work. I have been travelling for two days for work and was cold and tired when I arrived. 

I had no WiFi on my phone when I arrived outside the apartment and very little battery power so I tried to look for the pin on my phone but couldn’t get it. So I rang the contact number on the email from the property at  about 3.55 there was no response. I sent a text asking someone to call immediately as I could not get in. 

After getting no response I went to find a WiFi spot and was able to get to booking.com  site and get the pin in. About half an hour later I got a text with no apology but said “what is your name”. I told them I no longer needed there help as I find the details and had been waiting for over half an hour for their response. Their reply “you should have checked your booking before made contact”. I thought this was very abrupt and not very helpful but responded quote “ I had no WIFI but I’ll bear your helpful response in mind when I give my feedback on my stay”

I then went to dinner and left my phone to charge in the apartment. When I returned I had a text telling me after what I said/wrote they had zero tolerance for rudeness and I had to leave the building immediately!

I was shocked even more so when they sent a message to booking.com saying that they would send security round to have me removed. I have all the texts and the messages to back up this claim. The then refused to refund my money. Thanks to Booking.com my money was refunded.

I have never been treated so badly by a service provider in my life and for no good reason. It was if the other person was covering up for their rudeness. 

I had to find another hotel for the night which has left me out of pocket.

I would say avoid this property like the plague!

Booked apartment in June for afternoon and night out (birthday celebration) in September.
At short notice apartment had a problem so alternative offered which I replied to accept. Also called mobile and texted. 
On train still had not received a reply.
Spent afternoon wandering around Birmingham looking for a hotel that wasn’t fully booked.
Do not book this place! You might not even get to see it. You’ve been warned. Really disappointed. 


Let us down at last minute and terrible communication

I arrived late after a long journey to find my Penthouse apartment in a bad state.  The bed was not made dirty towels, dishes .  There was no emergency number to call so I had to contact them through booking.com .
I then got an email to say they would send someone round in 20 mins .
Nearly an hour later . A lady came and gave me an alternative apartment.  
I expected a call the next day to apologise and refund me the difference between the Penthouse and basic one but no.
I have since emailed but not even had the curtesy of an acknowledgement.
Absolutely disgraceful.
