Chomjan Beach Resort

Ko Phayam is a lovely island, accessible by a speedboat ferry from Ranong. There are no cars on Ko Phayam; the taxis are scooters! I would caution any future visitors to keep baggage to a minimum to make the scooter ride easier. A backpack is best, but the driver can usually prop a bag on the front of the scooter between his/her knees. Chomjan has a restaurant where you can eat whenever and whatever you want. It has a large menu and the food is prepared fresh and promptly. Very delicious traditional Thai food. The bungalow we had was air-conditioned, but I understand that some are not; be aware. Free drinking water was provided. The bathroom section is open to the air and mosquitoes can get in so it's best to keep the bathroom section closed off. The porch was equipped with a hammock and a clothes-drying rack, which came in handy after swimming in the ocean. The beach was very clean, not crowded and very nice temperature for swimming. We ordered some food to be delivered to the beach and they even provided that for us. We were there for New Year's Eve, and some of the other beach resorts lofted paper lanterns and had fireworks, which were enjoyable yet low-key. One of my dreams has been to sit in a beach lounger and read a paperback novel. Chomjan Beach Resort was the perfect place to achieve that!
