Aparthotel Splendid

My girlfriends and I stayed at the Splendid on our recent trip to Zurich. We had spent an hour walking from door to door to find a hotel and there was either no openings, only slept 2, or were $300 a night. After 24 hours of traveling I was ready to pay the $300 just to have somewhere to take a nap. So glad we kept looking! The gal who checked us in was friendly and honest. She told us it was a 1-star room but that it was clean. And it was. The bedding had been freshly laundered when we checked in. No fancy frills but it was everything we needed and we couldn't beat the location and the price. And considering how expensive Zurich is you will want to save your pennies and get a cheap room so you can afford to eat! There is a piano bar on the 1st floor and yes they play music till 3 AM....but we found it charming and actually enjoyed it. Yes it is an old hotel, you have to share a bathroom, the lobby smells like smoke, the rooms are small, the music is loud, and there is no AC - but we loved it! It you're looking for a romantic getaway with a fancy room and all the luxuries of home....this ain't it! But we were looking for an experience.....and we got it!
