We've been there for lunch. We've been there for eight minutes by bus from the train station. The view from the restaurant and the terrace is great. The friendly staff makes the stay perfect. And then the food. First the eye is pampered, then the palate. Beautifully arranged and very harmoniously tuned. The map is not too big, but very diverse. And for dessert, try the icy version of the Zuger cheesecake. This is already a trip. We thank the Elsener family and the team for this beautiful breakout.

Enjoying the View

The best thing about this hotel is its location with lovely views over the lake. However you should be aware that it is situated out of town on the hills behind, so it is not convenient if you want to go into the city, for example to find somewhere to eat. The rooms were of a good size, clean and comfortable. One minor disappointment was the temperature of the water in the bathroom - just on the warm side of tepid. The restaurant served wholesome, uncomplicated meals. The breakfast was adequate at best - I have had much more generous breakfasts at 3 star hotels in Switzerland. The overall price for room and breakfast was reasonable by Swiss standards.

Decent stay in a lovely location

If you want to go from the exit to the room... we were standing about 20 minutes outside the hotel entrance.

Nightly entry

Great taste, well prepared, good portions, lovely setting with best views of Zug, friendly staff and service. We visit this restaurant for 10+ years for events , day and night time meals, garden aperos which are spacious and breezy with trees and flexible service. Catering small and big requests has been great also as corona sets us up for take out. Thank you Martin and Cornelia!

The Guggital is owned since decades by the Elsener Family, today Martin, Franz son is in charge, he kept the authentic of the place, giving a small touch of modernity,  Visiting Zug and not sharing a dinner in the terrace and garden of the Restaurant is a big mistake, the location is unique overlooking the Lake of Zug, at good whether your eyes reaches also the Berner Oberland. Dishes, presentation and service is excellent. And if you can stay for a night, you will be happy to be surrounded by such a pure air

Food, playground, views and service are top My kids love the trampoline and the food (Tip: Chicken Nuggets very fresh if you ask, you get them as an adult) Pleasant cool under the trees friendly employee and child friendly

It's all good.

The location of the hotel and the customer-friendliness of the staff is very good. But the rooms would have needed a facelift. The furnishings of the rooms with furniture, carpet and sanitary fittings need a refurbishment. Especially in the beds, there are now new standards that also allow a more comfortable sleep. A long time ago, 10 years ago, I stayed here once, I had a déja-vu in the furniture store, and I felt it was already old at that time.

Facelifting fitted

I've already been there twice for work, I've been booked by colleagues, an old hotel by the lake, which I wouldn't give more than enough. Really basic. Poor breakfast. I didn't dare try the restaurant.

Passable

I stayed with my wife for three days in a room with a balcony overlooking the lake. Incredibly wide the bed, good breakfast, though perhaps too unbalanced on the salad. Grateful hot drinks, enjoyable dinner. Great location with private parking and city bus stop right in front of the hotel.

Satisfied

We choose Guggital because of its situation, fabulous view from our bedroom situated on upper floor with a balcony, parking is free outside the hotel, important for us, my husband has a mobility problem (not severe) holds  handicap parking badge, staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast served in a dining hall overlooking the lake, too cold on that day unfortunately to be outside on the lovely terrace. Bedroom large, clean and comfortable, big flat screen TV. Good beds.
