This restaurant is located on a small lake and we came in winter so the lake was frozen and all was white..so beautiful. Lunches at the restaurant terrace are very recommendable. Friendly service and good quality food. We absolutely enjoyed it. It is in general pretty low-key and chilled...the place as well as the guests.

The best hotel i have ever been ! Amazing staff and best service ! I recommend you to go here and you will stay comfortable! The restaurant was very good with a polite staff and very good food ! You need to try it !

The best Hotel

The restaurant has new operators and a new concept since this season. A menu is now only available on the upper floor (formerly the club terrace). On the first floor, only an afternoon tea-style étagère with sweet and salty snacks is offered at a price of around CHF 40. During our spontaneous midday visit in January outside the high season, all tables on the upper floor were reserved. We had only the choice between an étagère or looking for another restaurant. We opted for the latter and had an excellent meal at Chesa al Parc at the  Kulm Hotel in St.Moritz instead. 
The concept of Afternoon Tea fits a grand hotel, but completely misses the mark for a rustic restaurant. Too bad about the beautiful location. Hopefully this strange concept will be eliminated soon. Only then will we visit the restaurant again.

strange new food concept

It was disappointing to see that the restaurant was already closed on 3 October 2022 and that only the food trailer was open. I am expecting more from a premium place like St. Moritz. The menu at the food trailer wasn't really great. 1/2 chicken with french fries, fried tofu, sandwiches etc. isn't really what most of the people are expecting. But they charged CHF 7 for a bottle of Möhl cider. Additionally, there was no playground for the kids although this is shown on the webpage of the restaurant. The good thing is that there are sufficient picnic spots with fireplaces nearby.

Restaurant was closed

We left after what was a two-hour long disaster, only to be told “well if you don’t like it, you don’t have to come again”. We said we wouldn’t. 

We’ve been coming here for years as we have a holiday home in the area but the Lej da Staz restaurant has definitely gone downhill since the Paradiso chain takeover. After finally being able to place an order, it took 35 minutes and three failed attempts to bring us 3 out of the 5 hot drinks we ordered. We had to ask again for the other two - they arrived after another 10 minute wait. The hot drinks must have been standing at the bar for too long as they were lukewarm at best. 

The plate of ravioli (6 pieces for CHF 29) arrived 80 minutes after our arrival. The Bratwurst sausage arrived 90 minutes after our arrival. The cake we ordered didn’t come at all. Although advertised as sausage with spicy mustard, it was served with ketchup in a mustard container. There was no waiter around who could have brought us the mustard. 

We tried to pay, although at this stage we were tempted to walk off without settling the bill. After several attempts we were told that the bill came to CHF 93 and we paid, without receiving an apology or anything along these lines. I asked for a printed bill, only to realise that there were items on there which we hadn’t ordered or consumed. It took us another 10 minutes to get a refund. 

It is also worth saying that people around us left without receiving their food, someone else was told there is only one person behind the bar - hence the delay (how can this be the case at the busiest time of the year). The table next to us received an incorrect bill as well and another table was told that the serving staff was a bit tired after the New Year’s celebrations - hence the mixup. Until things change there, we won’t be coming back. Hotel Meierei hast just reopened close by and will be an alternative worth trying.

Avoid if you can

Walking around every winter, you definitely go through this nice building, located in a fantastic surrounding. A year ago we stopped there for a light lunch and it was not good. This year we tried it one more time and it was just terrible. Food quality was very low, service was awful and price was extremely high. We payed attention, that most people left a lot of food on plate, not only we.

Terrible restaurant!

The restaurant is located in a very nice surrounding, a short walk outside of St. Moritz town.

Sadly, the "service" is terrible.
My wife and I have been waiting today for 40 minutes until we could place an order. we only ordered a beverage each but the restaurant failed to deliver just that within another 30 minutes. we met other people there that also left without consuming anything.
the restaurant was quite full, but not extremely busy.

When we left we told them that they do not need to bring the beverages anymore. the reply was that they would close anyway at 3 pm today (due to a private event). they couldn't make it any more obvious that they do not care about their customers.

Such a nice place would deserve much better ownership and staff,

Definitely don't recommend to spend your money there (if you even get the chance to do so as this would require service personell willing to serve you).

terrible, don't go there

We went there with friends on a evening to have fondue, as nothing else is served on those nights but of course we knew that. It is really basic, meat with no taste, nothing aside except rice and frites. Also the cheese fondue in my opinion was a supermarket like one, just with some bread and be happy. The salad as starter was the best part. Staff looks annoyed to have guests, did. I thing to make us happy. Bill very high for what we got, as base is 75chf for meat fondue. You find much better in the valley!!
