What a wonderful find for a place to stay in Visby.  We had a room off the Gin Garden and were very pleased with it.  We slept well and benefited from having our own place to enjoy our drinks among others in the garden.  

The breakfast was served at a nearby hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed it.   

We would gladly stay here again.  Visby is such a beautiful town and we are so happy to have spent three nights there on our Sweden holiday.

Comfortable and quiet setting for relaxing stay.

Sun pours over Visby. The setting is perfect. About 15% occupancy at Gin o'clock. Enters eight people, quickly seated, four drinks quickly ordered.
Two arrives after 5mins. The other two not, the remaining four waiting to be ordered. After 20 mins asking about ordering the four, the waiter responds "I am making the two, will come to you shortly". Fice minutes later, we can order the four remaining drinks. We complain about the waiting time, and are offered free snacks "to make us happy" 
After 8mins (2mins/drink) the remaining four arrives. Still 20 mins after that, the free snacks are nowhere to be seen.

The drinks tasted very good, but allow for a good portion of patience (and forgiveness).

Business may be Corona-slow, but the staff does not seem to value speed of income.

Fantastic Gin Drinks - fantastic slow service

After a full dat of sightseeing we looked forward to dinner. This was a first visit åt the Värdshuset Lindgården. Nice and quiet atmosphere - old style- friendly and attentive service. We all had a set menu of sea food with matching wine menu    excellent food and a great taste experience. Another fantastic restaurant in Visby which I really recomend. Prices are on the high side but its worth every singel krona.    

Fine dining

This restaurant was the setting for our first date back in 1990.
When we come back to Sweden we always try and get here.  While the ownership has changed there are dishes that have stood the test of time never looking like being removed from the menu.  Perennial favourites like toast skagen- my lovely wife's favourite and the Stek Plank - a shot of retro that while timeless when cooked well is delicious.  It didn't disappoint.  All beautifully prepared with incredible depth in a sauce perfected over decades.  I had a carpaccio that was melt in the mouth beautiful, choosing glasses of Burgundy and Bordeaux to match.  Just great.  A visit to Lindgarden is a retro experience but a very good one...

The Pilgrimage

Location is excellent - in the middle of everything in Visby. Close to airport and ferry, as well as close to sights and eating. The garden is lovely, but the rooms could be better. Old furniture, a bit worn out, slow wifi etc. A restoration could be useful :-)
Breakfast is served at the nearby Strand Hotel.

Nice location and atmosphere - but a bit "old"

I've stayed at this hotel a couple of times. The rooms on the first floor are the best, if you stay on the ground floor you don't feel confortable with opening your window and the room we stayed in felt very damp. As there is no airconditioning you have to open your window in the summer. First floor rooms are perfect but you can't expect to have a quiet room as you are in the middle of Visby. But beds are great and breakfast at the Strand hotel is first class. I love this hotel, but when I go there next time I'll make sure I get a room on the first floor.
