What a wonderful place!
Overlooking Madampe Beach the hotel is perfect for just doing nothing but watching the sun cross the sky. The sound of the sea is mesmerizing, mix in the sound of wildlife and humanity and you have a hypnotic non intrusive sound track.
Hemantha and his team add to the relaxation. Nothing is too much trouble for them, always on hand to help. ..... And the food... excellent!

Total relaxation

This was one of our favorite hotels in sri lanka. It had such apeaceful calm feeling about it.
We had booked two rooms for ourselves and two older children (m+f) as they had no twin rooms they let us have another room at no extra cost.
The hotel was right on the beach and they had had a turtle laying eggs the night before we got there.
Sadly we onlystayed one night, would loved to have stayed longer.

real oasis

Stayed here for 1 night and wished we could have stayed longer. Beautiful hotel and lovely staff. 
Food was fresh and local, got to try an array of traditional foods which were lovely. 
Nice pool and the beach right on the doorstep! 
I'd requested a twin room as i was traveling with my brother but they only had doubles available. They gave us another room for free so we didn't have to sleep in the same bed. 

If you are thinking of visiting a turtle hatchery on your visit to sri lanka i recommend staying here as theres plenty near by. 

Perfect!

It is a very beautiful little hotel hidden in Ambalangoda. Perfect escape from the touristic feel in Hikkaduwa, but still only 10  min away by tuk tuk.

Probably the best part is the service! The staff took really good care of us. It seemed that for as long we are happy, they are too! 

The beds are the most comfortable I have slept in in a long time! And the rooms are very beautiful.
All of the hotel is very very clean! Can't go wring with a clean hotel !

I loved waking up in the morning with the sound of the ocean. They have a number of sea view rooms, but the large balcony on top is the best chilling area.

Pool is again large and very good; the beach is not for proper swimming, but one can have great fun in the waves and it is almost completely private. 

Food: perfect each time!!!! They gave us fish or chicken in a lovely, European style sauce with steamed veg and chips. Dinner was 3 course, the breakfast was the only typical Sri Lankan with a plate of fruit, fresh fruit juice, toasts, omelette and tea or coffee.  

The only con is the wifi, which is not in all the rooms. I was lucky to have it in mine (top floor room, right in front of you when coming upstairs), but the signal is quite okay downstairs and also in one specific spot at the balcony in the top floor. Ask the guys, they will show you ;)

Great escape

If you prefer rather 5* hotels, this might be not the right fit for you. But if you want to be by yourself in a small hotel, just to relax with the sound of waves and sunsets, and lose weight, I would book this hotel for max a week.

What I liked:
+grear Ayurveda treatments, you can also tell your wishes
+everyone is super sweet and does their best
+have an informative chat with the hotel manager who shares a lot about Sri Lanka; who is also very open for feedback
+wave sound, very relaxing for the mind
+amazing sunsets 
+you lose weight here as typical ayurveda food; but you can also tell your wishes about shakes, chicken or coconut to drink
+every day yoga
+very cheap booking; you can expect luxury for this price

What I did not like:
-fungi pool mattresses, but the hotel mgr promised to fix it quickly
-smell of towels 
-ants in bed bcs of flower decoration
-doctor informs you at the end about your Dosha?! Shouldn't it be at the beginning?! 
-street sound which is directly in front, but you get used to it with the nice wave sounds

Little hints:
+be careful with the ocean waves, never go alone; I didn't go in
+this is the sister hotel from Oasis in Hambantota South, would prefer that but it is 4 hrs further in the south
+within 45min 80LKR quickly in beautiful Gaelle for a day trip via local bus
+see the lying giant Buddha 800 LKR or the turtle recovery station in Ambalangoda; otherwise nothing to do
+within 20 min by local bus at the beautiful but crowded beach Hikkaduwa
+wanna have a food change? Go to SerendipityItaly hotel 3km to the right and have original pasta and pizza from Italy
+local bus trips are safe also for single women, just avoid night time

Great Ayurveda in small Boutique Hotel 

We chose this place based on reviews here, and spent three nights during the Christmas holidays. The hotel is nice for sure, and the staff led by Lalith are friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the overall layout is spacious and airy, perfect for a beach hotel. We'd booked well in advance and requested two rooms on the upper level, but did not get them. Most of the rooms are on the lower level and don't have any view at all, so be aware.

The breakfast was very good, the only other meal we had was one dinner which was decent.

The beach is right across the front fence, and its a really nice beach - quiet and clean. We enjoyed walking along it and spent time playing in the waves, great fun.

The turtle sanctuary and Hikkaduwa are close by, while Galle is not too far either. Lalith helped us arrange transport.

The one real issue, a big problem, is the building next door - it is a party/banquet hall, and on our last night there, this place had a bunch of young guys party all through the night and well into the morning! This was not New Years Eve, just the weekend. They had loud and blaring music that made it well nigh impossible to sleep. They set off fireworks as well. Many guests complained, the hotel staff complained to the police but they only came in the morning! After the police came, the music was lowered for a while but after an hour it was booming again. The poor staff were helpless, they said that the party people probably paid off the cops?!?! Needless to say, it was a horrible and sleepless night for us. Thankfully it was only one night, the last one of our stay there.

We complained to the management in the head office (Lalith, the hotel manager, has limited authority) about the horrible experience that night, but never heard back from them - no reply to our phone calls or emails.
