What great , honest down to earth accommodation, it's not fancy, it's clean and tidy with a location to die for. Johanna the host will always go above and beyond to make your stay as special as it can be. You can fall out of bed and onto one of the best beaches in the area, that never get to crowded. With a cluster of good restaurants within walking distance, a large square and play area just a 150 meters away weather your a family with children or a couple for a quiet get away you will love it

Good honest well priced accommodation

Lovely apartment with massive terrace and beautiful view. Two beds in each of the two rooms which are not double so you can sleep four people separately. This is apartment 9. Nice lounge good telly with Netflix etc. but sunny every day so no need. Kitchen, bathroom and one of the bedrooms have no windows. The other bedroom has lovely window overlooking the sea. Kitchen extremely minimal could do with more cupboards. We did have use of washing machine though on another floor. Bathroom toilet right next to the kitchen. Whoever designed this had some weird ideas. The big terrace with the view makes it all worthwhile. Right on the beach, close to town and shops and restaurants and bars. Johanna the host is extremely helpful. Sorted out a few missing things from the kitchen, extra pillows etc immediately.

Great view

The apartment is at a amazing spot, but it was a bit disappointing. Everything is (almost) falling apart, for example one of the beds was broken, the shower is loose and the electric wall socket is coming off (dangerous).
The pictures were pretty misleading...

The vermin and cockroaches were marching around the apartment.
Luckily the terrace is very nice and the views are amazing!

Amazing spot but crappy and dirty apartment

This January we stayed in a stunning apartment with Scandi white decor and as close to the beach without getting wet. The apartment has well equipped kitchen and a balcony to enjoy sunrise and sunset . The wifi was excellent and there is a TV should you feel the need to watch it.

How close can you get?

The communication with our host, Johanna was excellent during the coordination of our access to the apartment and when we met her. She had provided a bottle of white wine and water, plus a carton of milk, tea and coffee to get us started. An initial problem was dealt with quickly by the maintenance team.

When we first saw the apartment, it did not look like the one we had booked. It was quite small and the main bedroom did not have a window to the exterior of the property. The bathroom was small and badly in need of updating and proper ventilation since the shower cubicle had rather a lot of mould in it. We paid a 'cleaning fee' upfront of 40 Euros; but did not see a cleaner and our kitchen waste bin was not emptied during the week. 

However, the kitchen was well equipped, although the toaster and the kettle had to be used on top of the fridge freezer due to the length of their cables. The electric hob seemed a bit tired and struggled to get the water hot enough for a poached egg.

The view from the property was excellent. Being virtually on the beach front, we could see right around the bay and the sky at dawn and dusk on some mornings and evenings, was stunning. There are plenty of places to eat out on your doorstep and there are supermarkets close by. 

The Apartment is well-placed for walks to the Red Mountain and surrounding countryside. All the paths are clearly marked and offer extensive walks along the coast. Do walk to Playa de La Tejita, a brilliant beach (approx. 35 min) and on to the end of it to The Pirates Cafe (not open on Sundays and Mondays) for refreshments. You can continue on to Los Abrigos with its quaint harbour and great restaurants. You can either walk back to El Medano or catch a bus or Taxi. The bus service is good around the island, but intervals between buses may be long.

 My wife and I would return to the Apartementos Rocamar; but not have apartment 3.

The Curates Egg - good in parts

We booked a 2 week stay(Mon-Mon) back in February, first week there the water went off midweek, then at the first weekend the water went off for 2 days(Sat and Sun). What an awful situation having to toilet with bin bags placed over a mop bucket, using antiseptic wipes, so then obviously not using the proper toilet at all and having to dispose of our own waste in the wheelie bins nearby, and only being able to shower down below on the beach.....in those temperatures a very unpleasant situation. We had had enough and were all packed and were ready to move to a hotel on Monday morning(our neighbours and their kids had left for a hotel on the Sat night) when the water came back on. With a week to go we decided to give it another chance and on Thursday morning the water went off again, I went up to the street to find a truck and bowser with a pipe going under the door of the upper buildings so clearly the mains water has been cut off for whatever reason. The water came back on shortly after (low pressure as only gravity fed!). We left 2 days early and went to a hotel. Also-The TV didn't work at all, and neither did the WIFI at any point. The bed had a broken slat and the mattress was stained and offered no comfort. The views and the decent washing machine were the only 2 noteworthy things(well, the latter only if you have water eh?) and the uncertainty of having water put a massive downer on what should have been a superb holiday. Nobody would answer the phone when we wanted to know what was going on. We left 2 days early because the apartment directly below us was being completely emptied by the owner(??)...all the plants had gone from the downstairs balcony and we were concerned at the reasons why, and whether our apartment was even that secure. This is as objective a review as I can give but we'd never go back there.....no way.

A disaster.....

the owner is very laid back and uncomplicated. he reacted very cool when we broke a glass. thanks vincent! we loved the amazigh flag :)

the view from the balcony is breathtaking! we loved waking up to the sound of the waves! the apartment was clean but a bit worn. we didn't use the kitchen but it seemed pretty big and had everything one needs for cooking. we went out to eat in el medano (if you love italian food, go and try rosmarino! sooo good!!). The balcony is the best part of the apartment. the bed was quite hard and comfortable.  

The little hike up the montana roja was awesome and we loved the la teijita beach! 
there's not much going on in el medano if you arent into surfing but we enjoyed our short stay so much! we only came here because our plane arrived too late at night to take a bus to los gigantes, so we ended up staying down here for two nights. the taxi ride from the airport was 15 euro, i think the actual price is 10 (make sure to show the driver the adress on a map before you leave!).
