In a town with a population of 3 dogs and 2 people we stayed here on route on our walk from from Potes to.. Potes, during which we experienced many assertive dogs, a red squirrel, a wolf (probably) and lots of conundrums such as : where has the trail gone??. Other than breakfast they do not serve food here so we relied on our trusty mountain rations of nuts apricots and flapjacks, although they do have a large bath for a soak, and a minibar in the room for those cerveza cravings.. Nice and remote and the long walk up the steep mountain road to reach it was particularly pleasant :)

Close experiences of the mountain kind

Had the pleasure of spending two nights here which was one of the most pleasurable experiences we've had.  The accommodation is situated on an isolated hillside with the only noise coming from the cowbells tinkling.  Beautiful mountain scenery.  Beautiful clean and local decor in the rooms.  The breakfast was just right, simple but kept you going until lunch, and don't miss out on the local honey.  We bought two jars from the owner.  And finally the proprietors, pleasant, friendly, warm and very helpful and likeable.  The best thing, they didn't speak English which made us use our small spanish vocabulary which added to the charm of this place.  Ten out of ten with no complaints.

The best kept secret in Spain

Absolutely beautiful location - in the outskirts of the small village of Pembes which is just off the main road to 'Fuente De'. 

Beautiful building and the gardens well kept with gorgeous flowers. 

Can't fault the staff. Rosario and her family really look after you and are wonderful people who will help you in any way they can.  

You need your own car as places to eat are back on the main road in places such as Camaleño and Espinama. 

If you are looking for a friendly and gorgeous place to stay which is near to both Potes and Fuente De, then don't hesitate and book Casa Carielda!
