Hostal Bejar is in the heart of Barcelona City Centre. It is not far from Sants station and Place De L'Espanya. There are Metro stations at these locations and there is also Tarragona which is really close by as well.

Once I located the hostel I was shown to my room by the host and it was very comfortable. There was a bathroom nearby with a shower and the room was cosy and had everything I needed.

The following day I went out and did everything I wanted to do and returned to the hostal and the room was refreshed and ready for me.

Both nights I had a good night's sleep and the staff I met were really friendly and welcoming.

It was not expensive to stay at the hostel and I felt I got very good value for money based on the location as it was perfect for what I needed.

Basic But Very Welcoming

Had a room [10] with shared bathroom..As i was on a very tight budget, that was no issue.

Upon arrival, a building across the road has a sign up outside for the Bejar..After 10mins of trying that, My spanish friend called them and I had to go across to what looked like a residential block where there was a hostal buzzer.. Entry was a little strange, you had to be let in to the building everytime day or night.

Back to the room, as stated earlier, was a shared bathroom room..The room itself was a quiet single room. Could have done with an extra pillow [never asked TBH], was nice and clean, fresh towel and bedding daily. was not the largest of single rooms i've ever stayed in but by no means the smallest.

There is access to a communal fridge/freezer, kettle/microwave..No tv in the room but the wifi was always available and a great speed..

Would I stay here again, a definite YES!, in fact am looking to book a stay later this year!!

Good Budget Barcelona stay

We stayed in Hostal Bejar for 11 nights due to the Primavera festival. My friend and I were looking for a decent place to stay, with separate beds and a good shower. Hostal Bejar met and exceeded our expectations. The room was very clean. We had our own bathroom - also spotless. We were offered for our room to be cleaned everyday and were offered new towels. The room came with a hanging rail, small desk, full length mirror and a window with black out options. Enough space for the two of us. Also the room has AC to adjust for the climate you would prefer for sleeping. 
Location excellent, close to rail, bus and metro. Close to Montjuic. 
Staff excellent and very helpful. My suitcase was lost along the way, we alerted staff that it would be delivered soon, and came home one evening to find they had put it in our room. This saved us going across the street to reception, and then taking it up the stairs in the Hostal itself. Very kind and not expected. 
We would stay again and recommend to anyone who was visiting Barcelona.

11 night stay

Great location, close to Plaza Espanha. The room was very clean, Great wifi connection, plenty of hot water. The price was high for the quality. One other negative thing: the walls are VERY thin and you can hear EVERYTHING from the adjacent rooms, snoring, coughing, bathroom activities, etc.  

The staff if very friendly and helpful. Also, this Is a pet-friendly place which Is why I chose it.

A mix of positive and negative features

+ rooms cleaned every day, a very friendly cleaning lady
+ fridge and electric kettle in the shared kitchen (food does disappear though)
+ great location, close to metro stops (Tarragona (3min), Hostafrancs (5min), Sants (10min), close to the train station Barcelona-Sants estacion (connected by renfe R2N train to the airport, 30min ride) from which you can get to the motel in 10min by walk.
+ grocery stores within a walking distance - aldi (5min), lidl (12min)
+ restaurants and bars all around too, also a shopping centre and Placa Espanya 5 min from the motel.
+ the shared shower was not terrible, had a normal showerhead and adjustable water temperature
+ discount vouchers for various attractions you can take at the motel
+ was given a map
+ 24h reception
+ good wifi
+ towels + hand soap in the private bathroom
+ possibility to leave the luggage at the reception even after checkout
+ no stuff disappeared from a locked suitcase
+ a mirror in the room and in the bathroom
+ a nightstand + a table + some hangers
+ no bugs or other vermin, looked clean, just in desperate need of renovation (at least the shower) 

-
- had to use the shared bathroom because the toilet in the private one wouldn't flush properly
- the shower stream was impossible to shower under, too thin and the only settings were freezing and boiling
-the bathtub also looked like somebody threw up on it ages ago and it became a part of the tub after all the years, kind of disgusting to even be around. Had to use the shared shower instead, could have as well paid for a cheaper room with no private bathroom
- toilet paper given only enough for 2 uses, better bring your own
- very thin walls, can hear every word said nextdoor, can't sleep at all if any guests are on the same floor. The odds are you wouldn't fall sleep anyway though because of the uncomfortable beds and pillows
- cramped room, too tiny for the 70e/night, kind of a claustrophobic feel
- extremely thin sheets, probably good for summer but was freezing every night when it was below 20°C. better bring some warm pyjamas or a blanket
- no sink/faucet in the kitchen
- ancient doors to the room kind of hard to lock/unlock
- light switch kept falling off the wall
- reception is not in the building but across the street (street number 36), not an inconvenience, just an fyi

Overall: 

Offers all the basics one would need, the only real disaster was the shower which was pretty much useless and the look of which made you want to crawl out of your skin. Not worth the money though imo, depends on whether you value location over basic comfort.

not worth the money

If it wasn't for a lovely lady and 2 female cleaners this hostal would have got a 1 was made to climb a set of steep narrow stairs air con leaked on my bed tried to open window for fresh air but it was still inside building with front door locked room door didn't shut or lock properly unless giving it extra force so paid way too much

Dreadful

The bed was very comfy & clean. The location was perfect - lots of great local sights and shops are all within walking distance. Good Metro connections as well, just a few minutes walk away. The price was very cheap. The staff were very  nice (also spoke very good English), were very helpful with the room. The hostel has an elevator to easily access the rooms.

The shower head in the bathroom was unfortunately broken and difficult to use. The room was supplied with an extremely small fan which basically just circulated warm air. It's also a bit difficult to figure out how to get in to the hostel!

Perfect for the location and price

good choice single rooms (although without bathroom included) near Sants station and Plaza España. It is a boarding house on the first floor of a residential building. the rooms are clean although poorly soundproofed. If you just want to sleep for the next morning, take a train early in the morning (like me) is not bad, considering how cheap it is. Price paid: € 31.

cheap and noisy

Stayed for 2 nights at Hostal Bejar. Made the reservation via Booking.com. Hostel is situated a 5 minute walk from Placa Espana which is a good place to start your trips from due to the amount of public transport in the area.

The hostel itself is quit hidden between appartments. It offers several types of rooms and studios.I had a private room with a shared bathroom. My room was tiny but clean. Bathroom was clean. There is free WiFi available which worked quit well.

Staff was very friendly en helpfull and helped you out if you had any questions. My final day at Barcelona they offered to guard my lugage so I was able to take a few more excursions before leaving. to the airport.

For me definitely a place to return if you have a few days to spent in Barcelona!

Cheap place near "Placa Espana"

What a seedy dive that was! I felt like I had stepped into a Spanish Charles bukowski novel. Paper thin walls, lots of noise. You could hear people peeing and door locks opening and closing through the night. The guy at the desk was grumpy and refused to let me change my room the next day. cigarette smoke came into the room during the night. Luckily the owner (who was helpful) did let me change rooms on the second night. I would have gladly changed hotels and forfeited my money for the next 2 nights but couldn’t find anything else. 
The shower head was broken & could easily be fixed if they cared enough to bother.
I do not recommend this place at all but I’m giving it 2 stars because the owner was friendly and tried to be helpful.
