We are a family of four and we stay here every year and love it. Every apartment is different as they’re privately owned. The location is perfect and balcony views are amazing! The pool area is really lovely too! There is a large car park and plenty of great restaurants around.  

Love these apartments

This is an amazing place, perfectly located next to the beach and to nearby restaurants. This is not an hotel rather a hotel lookalike with lots of self-accommodation apartments available to rent from owners with some to rent from the Altamira themselves. This is a place to be respectful of the residents who actual live there and because of this it is well maintained with the staff keeping the place wonderfully clean and well maintained.  There are apartments on 6 floors surrounding an amazing pool area with a pool for families and a pool for adults (deeper pool) as well as a little toddler pool.  Some of the apartments face out onto the road but it is quiet even with a couple of restaurants/bars as things quieten down at 11pm, regardless you can still see and hear the sound of the sea.  We, as a family (mum, dad and 3 children – 8,13,15) have stayed here for quite a number of years after being recommended it by a friend who has property within the area, and we keep coming back!  I think the main attraction for us is that it is such a calm and relaxing place, and it has the pools to cool off and the children to play (all they want is a swimming pool).  When its time to eat and get a drink there are some lovely restaurants and chilled out areas right outside the complex and literally 3 minutes’ walk to the beach which is fantastic, we absolutely love spending time on the beach.  There is a reception area, it used to be manned, stopped a few years ago but to be honest there is no need.  You have a key that is used to access the main entrances and also the key to the gate to get to the beach.  You have to be a user of the site to access the pool area.  The apartments we have stopped in have been rented to us by a property agent who manages them for residents who have travelled back to the UK for visits, and we tend to go within the summer 6-week holidays, but we have also been at the October half term break.  We have stayed in a 2-bedroom apartment 233 Altamira which is a lovely apartment facing the pool (and sea).  Next to a corner apartment so it has a fantastic viewing area and such an amazing place to sit out at night. The bedrooms are ample enough for us, with the 3 girls staying in 1 of the rooms. All the amenities, including a washing machine, WIFI and TV (children cannot do without WIFI) and cooking facilities when needed them.  There are fans in all the rooms, and you need them because it is hot at night and you will need to have the windows (with security grills) open to create some air flow.  A lovely comfy place to stay.  We have also used apartment 432 Altamira which is a one bed converted to a two bed, this fronts the roadside with a small balcony and suitable for a couple.  It is furnished well with a modern feel, washing machine, TV, ceiling fans but no WIFI.  Another apartment we used was 619 Altamira one bed (two single beds and a sofa bed in the lounge) and this had everything, furnished beautifully, washing machine, TV, WIFI and more importantly, Air Conditioning.  This looked over the pool and had an amazing view as it was on the top floor.  All in all, the apartments we have had in the Altamira was amazing, no issues at all.  This is a lovely place to stay for a chilled family holiday, good facilities with the beach and restaurants on the doorstep, excellent.

A place to come back to

Inessa makes really best cocktails in Tenerife, mucho gracias! Very comfortable sitting, nice relax music, sunset over la Gomera island, ocean promenade, big field for children playing, all is just great!

Best cocktail bar in Tenerife

Have stayed here quite a few times, the location is superb ... almost on the beach with close by shops, restaurants bars and entertainment. Near to bus stop. The staff here are amazing, the lifeguard IS friendly and most attentive so suitable for young children.Bad behaviour from older kids not tolerated. Rooms are basic but immaculate. 

Thoroughly enjoyable

Finding reception was a nightmare.We eventually 20 Mins before it closed. We stayed in a bungalow with it's own patio overlooking the pool area.It was lovely. The bungalow, self catering, had everything you needed. Their restaurant and bar were good value. Food at the restaurant was excellent.

A lovely place to stay 

The staff were very friendly- the hotel is extremely clean - however there are little bits that need addressing- the curtains in the room do not reach the floor so room is light all night -coffee and tea is awful and the fresh orange juice is watered down - in general the food is good with good choice - there is a karoka pub right in front of hotel which is very loud - the entertainment guys work hard but couldn’t understand the one guy as he spoke so fast 
I wouldn’t go back to this hotel -

Needs a few alterations

Reception was closed and told to book in at El Beril down the road. That was all closed up even though two other people were waiting to book in. That was 7pm and they were expecting us. Lucky our taxi driver rang the number left on the notice and arranged someone to come over and book us all in.

No reception, booking in was a shambles, no sunbed mats very uncomfortable

Older resort mostly owner occupied now. No reception facilities and no sun lounger mattresses available. Good pools and poolside area with access to beach. Accommodation basic and Kitchen area in need of a refurbishment  Beds comfortable.

Good location

I have been coming to the Altamira for 30 years. This is nor a 5 star luxury appt/hotel but has always been kept spotlessly clean.
In the reception you have Pedro, you could not have a more polite or helpful person.
When we first came here, there was only El Beril next door. None of the area had been built and we watched them building the Bahia Del Duque and the Mirador (5 star hotels) on one side and many years later The Rui Palace on the other side. So you could not get a better position for your stay.
If you want more night life, then this area is not for you, It's sophisticated and quiet and just as important, very safe.
We can't wait to return.

I know the Altamira very well.

We were part of a group of about 30 people who arrived at short notice, after the cancellation of an evening flight back to the UK. Easyjet had to arrange hotel accommodation for most of the flight.
It was around 10.30pm when we all arrived and the two members of staff present were very helpful and kind. Not surprisingly, some of the group were tired and irritable and the staff were very understanding. They had arranged for the restaurant in a nearby hotel to remain open late to provide a meal if anyone had wanted one.
We had a one bed room apartment in the El Birel block. It was basic, but clean and roomy. There was no air conditioning, ok for a February night, not sure about in the summer? It was a little noisy from the sound of people coming and going in the corridor. The beds were quite hard.
