I loved our stay at the Roman Retreat - you literally feel like home. Lucy and Kevin welcome you, as if you are part of the family. The dogs and the cat are super cute, and you can take the dogs for lovely walks on the beach. 

Breakfast is extremely good, ask for Lucy's special : ) 

We had the room with the direct access to the pool. The bed is comfy and you sleep like a king.

You will not be disappointed! We will definitely go back

Great location, quiet neighborhood, next to the beach, very safe, within walking distance to family owned shops, too many positives to list. There is a small pool for those avoiding the cold ocean water. Highly recommended

I do not remember how I came across this gem but somehow I did. It is in Milnerton, Cape Town. About 2 minutes walk to the beach. At night and early morning you'll hear the calming waves beating against the pebbles and sand rocking you to a peaceful sleep. One time, i swear i was the only soul on the beach. I thought it must be private! You'll meet a couple of dog walkers. Still the beach is very neat and you can take a nap if you want. Lucy, Kevin and their two dogs George and Eddie, the cat Charlie whom I call Lord Charlie, were the perfect hosts. Funny, entertaining. I laughed my stress away. They are sensitive to non animal lovers, and will not impose them on you. Breakfast was always grand and varied for the 4 days I was there.and it is like you are at home. Oh, do ask for a toast so that Kevin is not made to feel redundant! The room was neat,  cleaned on a daily basis even on the weekend. That was surprising. I found the bed comfortable.  Location is on Google maps and so uber drivers find it with ease. I'll definately go back there. I highly recommend this establishment even for solo travellers which is what I was.

Walk to the surfing beach, and loved that it's close to main road- i stayed for a full week and could easily travel in and out of the city each day..

Good location and value for money in Cape town

This establishment has an excellent location, close to major roads leading to and from Cape Town city centre and is very comfortable and clean.

The rooms are nice and spacious and the furnishings of good quality. Bathrooms are spacious and modern.

Lucy and Kevin are great hosts and they make their guests feel at home.
Breakfast is excellent.

There are no fans or air-conditioning in the rooms and they can be very hot in the afternoon from the baking sun - but this is not a major problem.

The WiFi in the rooms does not work and one has to go downstairs to the sitting room to receive the WiFi signal.... which could be a bit annoying...but then again...

I will stay here again.....
