i was here in a team-building, with some friends and I loved the room with a view over the Danube, Serbia and Portile de Fier. They have an exterior pool, which is really nice since it is located right on the Danube edges.
I cannot say anything about the food (even if it was ok), since it was a private event but it is really nice for team buildings, since it is located close to the Nation Park Portile de Fier, the Danube Canyon and also the custom with Serbia it's right there.

We stayed in the Motel Continental Portile De Fier for one night during our group tour of Bulgaria, Serbia & Romania. This was the only unacceptable accommodation on our tour.  The motel was a disgrace and we were all agreed that we should not have been expected to stay there.  While the reception and breakfast room were OK, the bedrooms were not – our small room was badly in need of refurbishment but more seriously was not all clean, particularly the bathroom. While the twin beds were comfortable enough, one rocked alarmingly as one leg was some 2 inches shorter than the others and had to be wedged up, and both had a steel rod extruding at the bottom which formed a painful trap for unsuspecting ankles. It also says something that when the ‘boss’ went out in his car in late afternoon he left the ‘porter’ sitting on the step with a nightstick!  As we had to travel to the next town (Drobeta-Turnu Severin) to eat anyway it would make sense to have simply stayed there in the first place.  It is a pity because the motel has a lovely setting on the banks of the Danube and with a little effort could be transformed into a good stopover.

Avoid

Stayed on this hotel for a night in November 2014. Despite it's qualification as 4 stars, I would give it no more than 2+. I had the dinner included for 7 Euros. It brought me back 25 years. A vegetable soup who's only redeeming quality was that it was hot, a cordon bleu (cold) with something resembling baked potatoes (but I could tell they were baked some time ago) and a cake which was stone-like refrigerated. It was impossible to eat that cake, so I left without leaving any tip.

On breakfast I totally avoided any coffee or tea and went for orange juice with jam on bread.

The rooms were clean, but they could've used some renovations (I doubt any were made in the last 10 years. There were trains passing nearby, so sleeping was anything but comfortable. The bedsheets were quite uncomfortable as well.

I had wi-fi in the room, which was OK, even though it seldom crashed. 

If I'll go back to Drobeta, I doubt I'll ever choose the same hotel.

Not a very good experience

the location is very good, right in the center of the city. The room I had was at the 6th floor right looking over the Danube. The staff is very kind and helpful. The parking place is right in front of the hotel. The only minus is that because of the local supplier, there was not hot water all the time only in the morning and evening (reminded me a little bit of the times before 1989). The reception of the TV programs was awful, but I didn't come there for this.

We spend one night in the hotel. The location is beautiful, with view on the Danube. Rooms would be ok if someone would repair the bathroom equipment, furniture etc. The swimming pool were welcome if  it were cleaned.
The restaurant is really poor (no fresh fish ten meters from the Danube!). The schedule said breakfast starts at 6:30; at 6:45, everything was empty, the receptionist explained that the personnel did not yet arrived from the town. Definitely, arrange for eating elsewhere!
