Vilas Del Rei

We booked a villa at Praia del Rei through James villas. To be honest we had low expectations as we thought it would be a dull complex. We could not have been more wrong. This is a very smart resort, built discretely around a golf course. Meals are available in the club house and were pretty good. You can hire bikes and book lots of (pricey) activities in the adventure centre. The beach is very close and excellent, although the sea is rough and swimming should be approached with care. This is not a major issue as there are many good pools around the complex, often sparsely populated. Sintra and Lisbon are an hour away and there are plenty of local attractions, particularly the lovely town of Obidos. A good day trip is the lagoon at Obidos which is beautifully located and full of bird life.
