This family home is located 10 minutes car drive from Leiria proper. Nestled in an elevated site overlooking the valley and facing the wood. Irene, the lady owner is gracious and kind. She speaks no English but her son does who acted as interpreter if he was around. But her hospitality triumphed in between our interaction. The fruits of their garden are offered to us. Fresh fruits, fresh eggs, fresh bread. We enjoyed their large veranda. She toured us to the local picnic site, to an old local milling house and introducing us to her large extended family moment. We had a good size room. Bathroom is shared. Kitchen is available for our use. If visiting the Sanctuary of Fatima, it is a 20 minute car drive. In many ways, it was truly tasting real Portueguse life for 4 days for 30. 00 per night. Love our stay !
