Excellent location with a fine view. The room was small and there was no full barrier between the bed space and the bathroom utilities, not even a door. The room was clean at first sight, but we found a leftover cigarette pack on a drawer and the top of the closet had a lot of dust. The beds were comfortable but too short for me. The window is by the washbasin which has a mirror above and faces the toilet, resulting in having to close the window covers in order to have our reflection seen by neighbours across the street. The floor in the stairs and corridors was carpeted making it quieter, however this was only effective at night when the entrance bell didn't ring every time someone entered the building. The owner/manager was receptive to the criticism expressed.

Bizarre

I spent three magical nights here while visiting the city and surrounding area of Aveiro. Located just steps from Canal Central and the beautiful Assembleia Municipal, the location of this hotel cannot be beat. The hotel itself is housed in a traditional building that was once the home of a very well-to-do family more than 100 years ago. While the interior has been updated to cater to today's modern tourist, it manages to retain much of its old world charm. My natural light-filled third floor room was quite large as it contained one king size bed as well as a single bed, large wooden armoire and accompanying night stands. All of the furniture is of heavy wood, old-world European style. There is an ensuite bath inside the room as well which takes a bit of getting used to as it is a smoked glass structure with walls that do not reach the high ceiling - it is literally part of the room itself. If privacy is an issue, there was a spotless, spacious communal hall bath/shower located adjacent to my room. According to the new/current owners, the bathrooms will be updated/layout altered in the not-too-distant future. This odd bathroom layout is the only reason why I am not giving this hotel a 5-star rating. My room had lovely views overlooking the red roof tiles of the city buildings as well as a partial view of the Central Canal. The owners, Antonio and Eunice, are an absolutely wonderful couple who made me feel like I was coming home to family each night. They truly take pride in their hotel as well as the happiness and well-being of every guest. They always made time to chat with me and gave me excellent local advice on what to do in/around Aveiro including excursions that took me far from the traditional tourist spots. I highly recommend making Residencial Beira your base when discovering the picturesque city/region of Aveiro.

Like Going Home Every Night

This lovely old house is still having some renovation but dont be put off by that. It is excellent value for money and the thoughtful and educated owners make the stay a wonderful experience.  The breakfast was the best we had experienced in Portugal so don't miss out on the opportunity to chat and eat well in the morning.  Good luck to the family in your b and b. 

Great place and breakfast superb

Great price.  Great room.  Clean hotel.  Centrally located. Stay here now!  The room I rented had a shared bath but had a sink in the room.  The room faced the street with a nice window and balcony.  This seemed to be a family run operation.
