So on Agoda, this place has some serious bad rep. Like there are complaints of rats, insects, uncleanliness, no wifi, noisy streets, cold showers, far from town. 

Yes there are those things haha but for what you pay, what we were you seriously expecting? 

First off, when finding the place, tell drivers "Island Front Cottage". That is also where you will check in. Your actual room is like a 30 sec walk from there. Town is about 5min via tricycle currently at about 30-50 pesos one way. 

Based on agoda reviews, I checked the room for holes. Bathroom for cleanliness. Working sink, shower, toilet. Lights. An outlet. Check, check, check. You can also ask for a mosquito net. Get it. Although I had to make some adjustments cuz they had some holes in them...

You're pretty much outside in a bamboo cubicle. There's like construction going on next door. I did see a rat outside the room but they run from you don't worry haha I'm not selling this place very much am I haha 

But from my stand point as a backpacking traveler, this place is absolute heaven. For the same price as a hostel, I have my own room, bathroom, balcony, beach access with a free breakfast buffet, where I actually enjoyed the food. The dried fried fish with crispy bones still intact with some rice? Omg seriously so good. The other Filipino food was also good. They also have western breakfast like eggs and pancakes for you weirdos. 

Oh and as service goes, the staff that I've encountered have been most accommodating. Answering questions, setting up my mosquito net, changing room requests. 

Your experience will be based on the exact room you get, who serves you, and your expectations. If you want clean, insect-free, all inclusive amenities, then expect to pay more elsewhere haha 

It does suck having no wifi, no hot water, and my charging outlet being far from the bed. And the water smells like metal cuz of all the minerals but c'est la vie haha first world problems. 

Discretion. It's a low ballers paradise. 

A cheap place with a breakfast is what you can look forward to, here. But nothing else. The individual cottages are squeezed in a small area with no room or views. The rooms are worse and apparently well frequented by rats and other critters. Mercifully, we didn't see any. The towels and sheets were clean. The whole place is constructed with bamboo and has a rustic feel. The airconditioning worked. And the toilet was clean. Just remember to leave the room cleaning card outside, every day, as otherwise they will not change the linen or clean the place. The hot water did not work. And don't brush using tap water as it is contaminated like all of El Nido. The breakfast is in a sister property called Island Front Cottage, in a colorful beachfront vegetarian restaurant. This is also the place you check in as no one knows Leonidas. Finally, you get wifi only in the reception area and no where else.
